Shot this guy tonight. I've been hunting him for several months now and finally caught him. His heart girth was 47 inches and 58 inched long (rooter to tooter),so based on this measurement he was around 272 pounds. First time I've measured a pig to estimate weight, so let me know if my estimate is accurate. He seemed to have a strong dislike for the 168 grain Amax from my .308. BTW, hunting with night vision and suppressed is awesome. Almost feels like I'm cheating a bit.

Ok, "rooter to tooter" had me rolling laughing at this. Nice pig.

Nice job! If you took a snug heart-girth measurement of 47" and that was the smallest girth you could get at that location, then your weight estimate should be fine.

Yep, that would be a large pig. I wrap the tape just behind the forelegs and gently pull it snug when I measure. My understanding is that it provides a pretty close estimate. Congratulations on knocking that one down. Go get some more!

What did you shoot it with ? Ruger American Predator in .308 with a Gemtech HVT QM suppressor topped off with a Sightmark Photon 4.6x. Bullet was my own handloaded 168 grain Hornady Amax sitting on top of 43.5 grains of Varget. I know the Amax isn't a hunting round, but every pig I've shot with them couldn't tell a difference.
