You'd be hearing about it if anything had been decided yet.
Kind regards, charlesb

The Army gets pistols from the manufacturers in January to begin testing. I don't think they are actually set to adopt and issue whichever pistol wins the competition until 2019.

I doubt it will be an actual competition. Rather they will let manufacturers compete for a contract. Aka who gives the most gun for the least amount of money.

I read/heard that one branch has traded in their 9's in for 45acp. Can't prove it yet.

Well I know the corps allowed glocks to be carried now as well... at least in some units...
The big claim is it will be a "full and open competition" but you know how claims work...
I was just curious if anything had happened figured somebody here woulda heard lol

SOCOM has allowed it's units a lot of flexibility on weapons for a long time. MARSOC has gone through several different pistols. The competition is for a replacement of the M9 in general issue.
for every stereotype there's a prototype don't be the prototype

The Marine Corps ordered 30,000 Colt M1911s in 2011, but I heard the Marines didn't like them, so that didn't really work out. They had an order for up to 12000 M45A1s ( the close quarter combat rail 1911), but the initial shipment didn't hold up that well. The frame was cracking from the rail. I think Colt fixed that by heat treating or something different. Even with that, I think young guys prefer Glocks because thats what they are use to.
