Anybody ever made their own varmint zapper to go on their feeder(s)?! I've heard of others making their own, but none of them give any details of how they did it. Looks like most use fence energizers, but I wanted to know how they went about wiring it up.

Academy has one that runs(6v) off the feeder battery. I was thinking of one till I thought coons would have to eat a lot of corn to get to $25
I'd ask him if he's pregnant. He missed a s__tload of periods. I'll take "things that look like a uterus" for $200 Alex.

If you have coons you have already spent $25 . Switched to stand and fill feeders and it is amazing the amount of corn I was losing due to wind and coons. I very seldom see coons on my cameras anymore. Before I had more coons than deer. Coons can waste more corn than you realize.

It is by American Hunter and is made to plug and play for their feeders. I just wonder if they can be modified to work on other feeders if the plugs are cut off. Seems like a no brainer but with my luck, I hate to throw away $25 without hearing from someone that may have already made one work.

We have them on our feeders. Now the feeder motor is the American Hunter brand so its a simple plug up. I can tell you, under no circumstances do you want to touch the wire. Man it hurts. I can also tell you in the instructions it recommends getting the solar panel bc the battery life will go way down. Suggested to change every 30 days.
I don't remember what the wires going into it and out looked like. I can look the next time out.

My feeder is not an American Hunter brand. I'd have to cut off the plugs and use alligator clips or something else to attach it. looks like a hot and neg wire for the battery are on one side, and two wires going to the 'shock' wire on the other side. I just need to figure out how to wire up these two wires to the 'shock' wire. Guess try it one way and if it doesn't work, just reverse the two and try it again. I need a test subject to touch that sucker though.

Why not use 4" PVC 5' long on the legs? The coons can NOT grasp around the PVC or the squirrels. I have used this four several years. The first time I put them on I watched the squirrels go from one leg to another trying to climb or even jump then they would sit down and just look at the legs. The coons would leave mud about two feet up the legs, went out one night to watch and they would try just like the squirrels, wish had a NV camera. Anyways NO more corn lost to jungle Jim coons and squirrels .

How do i attach it to the feeder to keep it off the ground? single bolt through the legs for the pvc to rest on?

You fasten the pvc at the top of the leg with a section of rope/cable/chain so that it rotates around the leg.

I never fasten them to the legs, just let the PVC set on the ground loose. Why would you need to fasten to the legs the PVC slides over the legs, they are loose and will rotate. I used this on the spin type feeder and the gravity type.

Buy a eliminator spinner plate $39. and that will solve your coon problem. Spinteck has one for $19. but I have not used it.

Cabelas has some strips that you screw into legs that look like carpet tacks, but they are all metal, haven't seen a coon hanging on a feeder since....cost $10 for 3....no brainer.
