I am trying a new timer/spinner this year and have no idea how long the corn will last before I need to refill. In the past, I would fill my 50 gal feeder labor day weekend set the 6v timer to spin for 4 seconds and would have about 1/4 left by opening weekend.
Now that I have a new 12 v timer, I am worried that I will be out of corn before I get to my place next week.

Run a test on it yourself. Hit the test button then before it goes off put a bucket or corn bag over the bottom of the feeder, catch all the corn and weigh it. Let's say you catch 2 lbs and throw twice a day. 2x2=4 let's say you have a 300 lb feeder 300/4 = 75 days.
The chances of it being empty by the time you get back are slim unless you have one hell of a raccoon problem and the wind blows like crazy.

Rough estimate is a couple of months, assuming I put a good bit of corn in it. Finally all my feeders have solar panels. I have no idea why I didn't do that years ago. Don't know what I was thinking. All is good now. Got hog tracks all around my new stand and fill feeder. Gotta get the grandson here. He loves shooting hogs and having me skin them out. I like it too.

Just because you are now using a 12v doesn't mean much, 12v throws harder, but the other variables are what makes the difference IMO. How you have your spinner set in relation to the spout, along with flow and cycle time are what matters. Only way to know real close, is do as rickym said and measure a cycle.

Most larger motors with 1/4" shafts, a 12v will spin faster than a 6v by quite a bit. Like posted above run a test with something to catch the corn. Use a 1 lb container to gauge if you do not have small scale to weigh. If you went to a

Use a 1 lb container to gauge if you do not have small scale to weigh. If you went to a 12 volt with 1/8" shaft it will be a much faster spinning motor than a 1/4" shaft 12 volt. If you can adjust your spinner plate up or down or timer up or down then you can use that also along with run time length.

We have 16 55 gallon spin cast times and metered to last right at 4 weeks.
We have a 1000 lb and a 2000 lb feeder that will run from Octoberr till Jan on the 1000 and till April on the 2000lb. (For Spring Turkey) Those 2 are in hard to get to Canyons and must be filled by bags. Feeder trailer will not fit into the areas.

2-3 weeks with a barrel - if nothing damaged it (have had the controller knocked off 2x), or it did not get clogged. But filling every other week was a pain, so now am running 2 1k and a 1.5k feeder. So - might refill once during deer season.
I can fill 2 from the ground, and 1 from the truck - but filling them with a tractor bucket is much easier.

ok so with my new texas hunter feeder throwing 2 times per day at 3 seconds each lasted from Labor day to opening day with a few days to spare. I loaded the feeder back up and cranked up the throwing time.

my corn feeder lasts 200+ days and I only have to worry about filling it twice a year. my feeder runs off of compressed air and has no spinner. My feeder is also completely coon proof. this feeder paid for itself in the first year by saving me on corn and trips to the deer lease.

My 55 gallon drum with cone inside holds 300lbs, its using a 12 feeder and throwing 5 seconds twice a day on high. I throw 30lbs per week so it's lasting about 10 weeks. I fill it Labor Day weekend and then again opening weekend and usually dont toouch it until after Christmas.
This year I ran 2 feeders and noticed something. Each feeder was throwing morning and evening and set up in the same cut, one at 100yds and one at 200 yds. When the bucks were chasing does, the does would take off to the other feeder instead of out of sight like they do with 1 feeder. I would watch the bucks chase the does back and forth from feeder to feeder and they wouldnt leave until all the corn was gone. I will be running 2 feeders next year as it seemed to give me more shot oppurtunities. Only difference will be that each feedr will be at 100yds but on 2 differednt cuts about 50 yards apart.
