Put the crosshairs halfway between the base of the spike and his eye and squeeze...

So on a pay $100 by the point #, would that one run about $50?

I'm not sure I'd call that a spike, looks more like a yearling who was born a bit early.

Probably born in October of '14. No way anyone can tell the potential of that deer. If you're hankerin for some tender deer meat then blast him. All my spikes get a pass though. They grow up to look like this and I charge a few pennies more than $100/point. 178" and the 3rd lowest scoring buck killed this year.

Not saying you are wrong about the spikes age, but I have never around this area seen any fawns born later than August. The trouble here is that the neighbors shoot anything they see with antlers. Kind of like AR's in reverse. Those in AR counties gripping about narrow antlered Bucks breeding more of the same. Here you have spikes breeding does to make more spikes. That deer in the picture is a yearling. I have taken 3 year old Bucks with not much more antler. Very seldom after the first week of the season do you see any Bucks except spikes. Last year between myself and people I had out hunting we probably took 5 spikes off that small place. This year I have seen only one 6 point Buck and no telling how many spikes. As for only charging $100 per point. I am not in the WT hunting business. If I was and spent the time and money it takes to grow a Buck like you pictured it sure enough would cost more than that. I don't charge much so those that come hunt can't expect to see a Bucks like you have. But thank goodness there are both kinds of hunters. Those that just want to take a Buck and enjoy seeing a lot of them and those that want a really big one like yours. It works out for all of us.

Sorry if I came over as implying there was something wrong in the way you do business. I love the fact that there are different hunts for different folks/tastes. In fact I provide some low cost hunts as well for my native hill country deer.
I was mostly just reminding folks that there are different reasons for an animal being a spike. And I'm sure at your place you are the expert and correct in your assessment (it's hard to live with these animals and not learn a ton about them even individually).
In fact, this year the latest fawn I've seen drop was early this month. And it looks like all the does are done here as well.
Who knows, I might even let someone shoot a spike here next year... But I wouldn't bet the farm on it.
