Atwoods sells 13% protein All Stock feed for $6 in a 40 pound sack. We used to just feed it to our horses every evening, but have found that everything loves it. We no longer buy special feed for the pig, the goats or the ducks. They all love this a lot better!!!
This got me to thinking. Would deer like it? Has anybody tried feeding something like this in their feeder? It's cheaper then corn, which they are just OK with. I've never had great results feeding corn to the deer. It's improved since I built a fence around the feeder to keep the hogs out, but it's nothing like you guys in the rest of the state seem to get out of corn. I was told that here in East Texas, there is just too much food out there for them, and they rarely get excited about corn or food plots.
I'm going to start spreading a little out by hand every day for a week and see if that improves things. Just wondering if others have already tried this and found out it's a waste of time and money

This came up a few years back....I think someone tried it and the "sweet" gummed up and clogged the feeder.

I fed the 16% pellet All Stock for a couple years when it was cheaper than corn. The deer liked it and it didn't cause any feeder issues. It wasn't the sweet feed, though. And yes, everything likes it. Dogs, cats, chickens, coons, turkeys, horses, cows, pigs, etc...
edited to add: I chose not to use the sweet feed because I was afraid it would attract ants.

I've used sweet feed in hog traps or dumped piles around a feeder.....never tried to run it thru a feeder....figured it would gum it up.....

Many have used textured sweet feed for WT for many years now. I use the pelletized sweet feed for hog or coon traps.

Thank you. It might not actually be sweet feed, it's just what we call it. All the bag says is 13% All Stock. I poured out about a cup of it under my feeder and will keep doing it for the next week to see what happens.

It'll gum a feeder up. We always used it around a feeder to get the deers attention then once they started coming in, just throw corn.

I feed the textured "Beef Grower" from Lindners to my Ibex. I put it in troughs. It is amazing how many deer come to eat with the goats. Now that the Ibex are in breeding season and paying more attention to the ladies than feed it is just deer at the feeders. They like it and it seems to do them some good.

I like it if it's not going to get wet anytime soon after putting it out.

Deer love sweet feed. The problem is making it available only to them since so many other critters like it too.
