Well whadda you know about that...I got drawn finally, out of the 6 2nd Drawings I had left. Never been here, drove by it 5 1/2 years ago and walked around the entrance to the Caverns, which were closed at the time. Got drawn for the 3rd Hunt, Jan 12-14th.
According to the Guide this is an Assigned Blind & highly suggested supplemental feed kinda Hunt...perfect for a single hunter getting into my advancing Geezerhood, with I assume fairly short shots. L/Y's success was 63% so theres a decent chance to score.
Can anybody chime in with personal experiences here??? ... besides where to eat & stay in Burnet & M'Falls 'cause I got that much covered.
Sure hope we get moved to the Lake Whitney area before then, it'd make the trip LOTS shorter than from up here at Lake Texoma. Ron

Thx, looking forward to your comments. Saw lots of deer everywhere last time we were house scouting in Burnet County from Tow to Marble Falls on both sides of the river, couple years ago.
Been 8-9 years since I've been drawn for anything...and gonna be a tight schedule if we don't get moved before the 1st of January....and still need to find a house to buy around the Clifton/Meridian area on the west side of Lake Whitney. Ron

Apple scented corn and sit all day. Most people get out of box around 2 hours after sun up thus vastly improving your chance if you stay put by pushing the deer around.

WT...that makes sense to stay put, as the area is pretty tight from what I remember driving thru. Used that strategy at other TPW hunts successfully too. Ron

Chris puts on a good hunt. Last year they were installing feeders at several stand sites. They sell corn to help fund their projects. They will drive you to your stand and pick you up, so it is pretty structured. I hunted the next to last hunt last year. Their success up until then was in the upper 80% rang IIRC. Was cold and rainy for our hunt and success was about 50% or a tad under. I saw two bucks (doe/spike hunt), and had two does who would not come in on one sit, so I went home empty. It was enjoyable without firing a shot and I recommend the hunt.
Hope you have a great time.

Looking forward to this Hunt. Always liked the area, and any excuse for eating at the Bluebonnet Cafe in Marble Falls. Anybody know if the "'Maxican" on the south side of Burnet is still open?...was some good grub there too. Ron
