Anyone have success on public hunting land? Obviously on the weekend it's probably going to be covered up and over pressured but what about during the week?

Sorry for the confusion.. Waterfowl. Yes, plenty of folks hunting public land and doing well. Unless you're in central Texas where there are no dang ducks. And yes, if you can go mid week vs the weekend it will be less crowded. The best thing you can do is get on TPWD's web site and look at their interactive map of WMAs to hunt. Also, check out the Army corp managed properties on hunting rules and regs. Army corp has different rules for each body of water they manage.

Guess I'll do some scouting around whitney and aquilla. I sure appreciate the info bud. I'll check out TPWD. I know you have to pay the $40 public permit fee etc.

I know you have to pay the $40 public permit fee etc. I'm not sure about every Core lake, but a lot of them require a lake specific hunting permit as well. Keep that in mind. I run into guys every year on Core lakes that aren't aware of that and give them the advice to leave as soon as they can and go to the lake headquarters to get one.
