Turtle Skin snake gaiters. I went with the waist high ones cause I don't see the knee high or boots doing much besides protecting against the juveniles that can't lurch above your knees. Super light, comfortable and easy to put on and off. Are a tad bit pricey but.....so is a snake bite IMO.

Turtle skin gaiters are amazing, cousin has a pair. I like the chippewa and select models of rocky. Lately rocky has been hit and miss. I bought a new pair and used them for an elk hunt and the sole came off at the top of a 700ft hill in colorado, needless to say i wasnt able to get in in position for the bull i was hunting. I was pissed and swore off rocky boots but my original pair is still going strong.without a doubt chippewa.

I've got a pair of zipup chippawas but I have to find a place in the barn where spiders don't go. Went to put them on last week and a brown recluse came sauntering out.. I slip on my $26 academy gaiters.

Why not chips and turtleskin chaps? That might be the best protection.

Been looking at those new Pronghorn Snake boots with the zipper. Love my old Danner Snake Boots, but I think I will try to get at least one more season out of them.

Thought I would update this thread. As I mentioned above I normally wear the turtle skin waist high gaiters. After talking to my guide for my upcoming Aoudad hunt he recommend snake protection at all times. Since it will likely still be warm out, the waist high gaiters aren't a realistic option. I opted for the Danner Pronghorn Snake boots. I just got them in and tried them on. The foot sole/bedding is nice and cofortable. For a 17in high boot they are very light. However, around the ankle, they are the most uncomfortable boot I have ever put on. No way I could hike more than half a mile in these before that ankle in the boot would put an end to my trip. It appears the snake protection from the top of the boot down stops at the ankle and then is overlapped with a another piece that starts at the sole and works it's way up over the ankle. So, at the ankle it buckles and rubs like crazy and hurts like crazy. Poorly designed boot IMO. They are going back to Cabelas and I will try the knee length turtle skin gaiters instead.

Been looking for a reasonably priced boot with both side zipper and lace for 2 years. Comfort was always an issue for me. Found a close out at Academy for Game Winner Defender II for 99 bucks last week. Could have spent 2-3 x that for name brand. Very happy with comfort, solid sole, good bite on tread, waterproof, etc.

Why bother with snake boots, be comfortable all you have to do is watch where you're walking!

I can't speak for their snake boots, but my Danner Pronghorns have lasted a very long time and are very comfortable!

I bought some Chippewas and didn't like them at all. Blisters like you wouldn't believe. They just wouldn't break in.
