Imagine everyone else has tons of moist soil plants this year. Got rid of invasive species and planted Jap last year as cover crop. No need this year except on mud flats as empoundments dry out-

Mine does not look that good but it is alright. Did any of the jap come back volunteer? Did the ducks hit the jap last year?

been a tough year as far as weather has went. Prolonged rain and flooding postponed planting and preparation. Once that was finally done, it has literally not rained a drop since end of may/first of june. But with a lot of irrigation and work, have still managed to get more than half of the ponds in great stands of jap millet, milo, and corn. Have some jap millet 5-1/2 ft with huge seed heads...waiting on the teal!!! rest of it is only knee high but was planted late and is doing great. Hoping it stays dry at this point, and it should be a good season!

Just planted jap last weekend in front of smartweed. Not of fan of planting early unless very dry spring. Heads out too quickly. Watering and planting mudflats again this weekend

Our smartweed is as thick as I've seen it around our duck pond. It's growing in places frankly I didn't think it could grow. Just need some rain to cover it come fall.

Dwarf corn is coming along great. Pic is from back in late July. If you look closely you will notice volunteer barnyard grass and jap millet. Corn is almost waist high now. It should finish shoulder high by mid to late October. Barnyard and jap is so thick now you can't hardly walk down the rows......
