Well, after not hunting last year I was really wanting to hunt this year. My wife and I went to the Hunters Extravaganza and while there she could tell I had a bad case of deerhuntingitis and ask me why I didn't find a lease. That's all it took. I found one yesterday afternoon and went and looked at it today and it seems like a pretty good one. Driving in the wife and I saw a couple of 10 pointers that crossed the road just ahead of us as well as quite a few does on the property right next to the land I'll be hunting. Yeehi! Can't wait!

I haven't seen a deer on our place while driving around in probably a year. Good luck, it sounds good.

The hunters extravaganza always gets me fired up!
No one had a gun in our hands and we just watched it go. One guy threw his beer can at it.. just in really good shape and also hopefully flip the switch a little faster on my wife.

It's east of Llano, 600 acres, 6 hunters.

I haven't personally hunted the area but I think that's a lot of guns on 600 acres for where it is. Doesn't mean you won't see good deer, just maybe not in numbers unless they have a really good management program. Good luck to you

But then I guess it really depends on what's considered a trophy. I enjoy deer hunting and although I'd love to hunt free range trophy bucks, I consider 160+ to be a pretty nice trophy, it's gotten so very expensive. The last good lease, I use this term because for the money there was a shot at shooting a 150 class buck, I was on had 8 hunters on 650 acres in Mason. I took a 144 on that lease and I saw a couple that were 150+ on the lease before the season started. Once the season started it got really interesting. I always thought it was kinda funny that the guys on the lease would complain about not seeing any nice bucks while they were running around on their 4 wheelers going to their stands etc and then sitting around the camp site between the morning and afternoon hunts getting drunk and making a lot of racket. There's always opportunities if only you understand the when, where and hows. I'm not really sure what's on my new lease but I think there could be 140 - 150 class buck but then again I won't really know until I hunt for a season. So much will depend on how many hunters are on the land around us and how much pressure there is. I just hope I get a chance at a 140+ buck.

A hunter per 100 acres is pretty typical for an eastern hill country lease and Llano is usually a very high deer density area even for the hill country, so I don't think 6 hunters on 600 acres is something to immediately worry about. Half the hunters I know are the type that show up for maybe the first two weekends and then are pretty sporadic about their trips to the lease for the rest of the season, so if that's the case with a few of the guys it should help with the pressure too.
I hunted in Blanco County for 15 years and 140" deer was about as good a deer as we ever got (and those were pretty rare), but we had a 110 acre Don Jackson lease next to us that cycled in a new group of 3 hunters every other year so that didn't help any. I think Llano County is probably a little better than that area for antler quality, too. Good luck and keep us posted with your progress and harvests.
