The time has come to step up from the AR-15 platform and I've narrowed it to these three. I hand load so factory ammo isn't a concern.

Tough call....
I was thinking of going gas but its a pain to keep track of brass with gassers. And with the specialized calibers they get a bit pricey
I would do 6.5 Creedmoor personally. the 7mm0-08 would be a second.
Wonder if you could fit a 6.5x47 into a 308 ar...

.260 or 7mm-08, brass for days and cheaper. I voted for the '08.

300 RSAUM, had one it shot well but brass was hard to find. Hard to go wrong with a 6.5 bullet. I built a 308, because I have a 6.5 Grendel.

Slow powders used by the 6.5's usually don't mix well with semi-autos. Factory creedmoor ammo has been known to blow primers in ar10's. On top of that, you are going to loose several hundred fps compared to a bolt action. Something to think about.
I would stick with a plain jane 308 running 155, 168, 175's. Maybe 190's if I could squeeze them into 2.8 inches.

I have heard the same thing..in fact a friend's 6.5 AR10 was blowing primers on the Hornady factory ammo.
I have another friend who just built up a lightweight 20" 243 for hunting.
My AR10 is a lightweight 308, Wilson Combat,my 6.5 will be a precision bolt gun.
EDIT Re read your initial post.. I would look hard at the 7mm08, I think you can get away with a slightly shorter barrel which is good if you want to hunt, especially with a can.

I built a 6.5 creed and love it. Was shooting clay pigeons at 1000 the other day. The factory 140 grain amax is a little hot. I have not blown primers in the few that I shot. I was getting excessive swipes though. I reload my own ammo so it does not matter.

I am on my second AR10 6.5 Creedmoor and both shot great. I did mess around with the 140's a little but had a few malfuctions so I settled in on 123's using both Amax and the Scenar's. Both will reach out to 1000 with ease. I have had good success with a few powders that I don't hear mentioned much in Creedmoor circles. IMR4007 SCC is very good(Nosler accuracy Load)and AR Comp along with Reloder 17

Yikes!
I've priced parts for a decent one out at about $1,900.
Is it pretty much the same as building an AR-15?

I had exactly $2600 in my CMMG MK3 CBR minus suppressor, it is a 16" carbine 308 and pops steel at 800 yards nicely. It might be a bit harder than the 6.5CM, but don't have a 6.5CM to compare it to. It is no longer my long range gun and wears a collapsible stock and SWFA 1-4 for hunting.

6k probably included the 3k leupold. Yes. I went with top of the line everything with it. I think the 20" Brux barrel was around $700ish

I've had my LR308 for over 2 months and haven't shot it yet... Nikon Monarch 5-20 will be getting picked up this Thursday. Can't wait to shoot it. This will be my deer rifle for this year... or my Rem700 AAC-SD 16.5" 308.

Looks like the .260 is the poorest choice. Can you hunt medium game with a 6.5?
