No backstory on this one other than the wife said I should go hunt, so I did. We didn't have hogs showing up at my place and I expected it to be an evening of watching critters, but a hog did show up...

Great video. I'm curios if there was any brainy matter in the pigs ears? I took a similar shot on a pig several months ago, and what appeared to be brains was coming out of her ears.

When my wife tells me I should go hog hunting, I simply say — "You are wise, and I will obey!" Actually, I say that a lot. My momma may have raised some ugly kids, but she didn't raise 'em stupid . . .
I have two unwritten rules: 1. 2.

Enjoyed the video. That hog must be on the gymnastic team the way it rolled and flipped.

When Dad said: "I gotta go mow something" that was the code for Mom's not happy! And when Mom's not happy, it's better to just leave for a while....
Oh and nice shot BTW!

How many night targets must fall in order to extract the ultimate use from an electronic sight ranging nearly $10,000?

Did you get tired of tracking them. The head shot has always been a shot that bothered me, but if you want an oversized hog to drop in its tracks, it is the right choice. Even when a coyote is facing me I take a head shot, because Ive shot coyotes in the chest off the ground with bows in a couple occasions and rifles on a couple too. They ran out of the territory. The head shot on varmints and hogs is always a good dicision.
Recently got a gym membership, strange folks! I like to show up the roid zombies with my full motion curls with the 55lb. bells. Not their cheater short stroked light weights. It's holarious.

How many night targets must fall in order to extract the ultimate use from an electronic sight ranging nearly $10,000? The scope I am using here is closer to $5500.00. I started to learn early on with my first night vision setup how many hunting trips I had blown by not being able to see very well, waiting to spotlight with a flashlight. Changing over to thermal started to reveal how many animals I was missing using night vision for spotting. It isn't just the increased productivity, but the decrease in disappointing hunts that makes thermal worthwhile. Maybe the ultimate use is being able to shoot at targets that are viable, but completely unseeable by Gen III night vision. My hunting partner spots with Gen III NV and 9 times out of 10, I see stuff before him and often it is stuff in the shadows, back in the woods, or blended in with higher grass that he can't see at all. Did you get tired of tracking them. LOL, I make a head shot when I have a high confidence in the shot. I make a boilerroom shot when I don't (too shaky, too far, moving hog, etc.). I actually prefer quartered shots under those circumstances as my bullets tend to pass through on straight broadside shots on hogs less than 200 lbs. and so a quartered shot gives the bullet more tissue to pass through and destroy. I really do like head shots as they really tend to put the animal down straight away. I hedged my shot in this case. Had he moved his head to his right, I would have had a nice boilerroom shot. Further to his left and I would have had a fine head shot.

How many night targets must fall in order to extract the ultimate use from an electronic sight ranging nearly $10,000? I got addicted to watching 00spy's Thermal video's and after 2 years decided to buy an X-sight. I used it on 3 hunts, got tired of the auto-dimming and broken promises so I sent it back for a refund. I did several months of research and finally bought a Zeus 3x/640/75. This past weekend I had a chance to look through a friends PVS-14. It was leaps and bounds beyond the X-sight, by the same token IMHO thermal takes it to a different dimension. I think the video quality on youtube is maybe 60-70% of what you see in the view finder on the scope. If you need to justify the price, $100/pig is 55 pigs if you eat pork. What do your other hobbies cost? A new bass boat is $40,000+, motorcycle $20,000+, golf $5,000/yr, you get the idea.... EDIT: FULL DISCLOSURE, not associated with any firearm mfg, scope mfg, will be making CC payments for a while.
