Here's a little straight razor blade I did just for grins . It's made from my own Twist Damascus in 1084 & 15n20. It's 6 3/4" long with a 3" cutting edge, is 1/8" thick, has jimping on top & bottom of handle and is hollow ground to a zero edge without any secondary bevel. There's a science to designing and grinding razors and I don't know any of it so this probably has some design errors, but I enjoyed messin' with it. Thanks for looking.

I really like that! I like the coarseness of the damascus. Are you going to sell it?

Bad bad Leroy Brown. he may have liked his diamonds, Lincolns, and drop top Caddy but he never had a razor this nice. This looks like a couple of sheets of Kirinite would make and elegant/simple and traditional looking handle. Kudos on your use of time and metal....

I personally think some sort of white handle would look very nice with the blade.

I think that antique white micarta would be perfect, it looks like aged ivory, it would be the way to go.

Thanks for the input guys. I agree that antique white or ivory would've been a stellar choice but I just didn't have anything close to it on hand. In an effort to get this project completed I went ahead and used imitation Zebra horn (aka black paper micarta) and textured it with my Dremel. We'll do a nice antique handle on the next one. Hope you like it.

It looks good, my second choice would have been black, hopefully you'll be able to find and put away a set of antique scales before you try again. It appears from searching around a bit, the antique and ivory white micarta is scarce, due to demand from scrimshaw artists.

That looks great David! I've seen several zebras but none of them had horns...

That looks great David! I've seen several zebras but none of them had horns... I noticed that but figured since it was an imitation it was a mutation from the West Texas jackalope... Which of course was a offspring of the famous Unicorn but everyone knows that true story.
