If anyone is really serious about removing raccoons then your wasting your time shooting them or educating them with sub par trapping efforts. Do some real research, get some quality dog proof traps and wipe em out. Don't just set the traps by the feeders, find the creeks, water holes, den trees etc.. Gang set when you set, as in put multiple traps in a location. Use the coon in distress to call others in, I think my best run this year was 87 in 3 days. If you see 10 on camera then you have a real problem

I wish I did have pics. It would make it more believable. I need to start carrying my phone more often. But trust me its not something I want to deal with again!

I've trapped them with dog prof traps, but the best thing I've found is to shoot them. I had two feeders at one blind, one in front and the other behind me to one side. I had 6 coons on the back feeder and 3 at the front, I shot 4 off the back feeder and one at the front one night. They didn't come back after I whacked most of their family lol.

If you see 10 on camera then you have a real problem Exactly They are like roaches, if you see one, there are many more that you do not see. At a small place we hunt, I had three-four coons on camera every night, and would see one or two while sitting in the blind, I caught 18 there in just a few months of weekend only trapping. At my brothers place we hunted them suckers constantly for about a year we would shoot from blinds, ambush feeders with the Ranger (this was fun), and spot light. We thought we were getting a grip on them. Then we discovered DP traps; we set them things everywhere. Initially we would catch a dozen or more coons a night, we ended up getting about 200 in less than 6 months. And we thought we had them under control.

Does anyone put anything on the legs of their feeders to keep them from climbing? I trap for fur, but this time of the year, fur is worth nothing. I've tried crisco, and it doesn't stay on in the heat. Anyone using anything that works to keep them out of the feeders?

My brother smeared grease on the legs of one of mine one time. Of course, it kept the coons off but every time I went to fill the dang thang, I ended up getting it all over me!!!

So far I've used crisco, and WD40 lithium grease and the silicone one. The crisco just got hot and ran off the poles. The wd40 actually made it really really sticky and made it easier for them to climb the pole. There were large clumps of hair on the poles though, LOL.

It's attached with one strand of wire so it is unstable and will spin. The PVC is slick and raccoons can't sink there claws into it or get a grip.

If I didn't catch a coon in a trap then a coon didn't come anywhere near it that night.

Get you some dog proof traps, they hunt every night.

I'm using DP traps and have caught 25 coons using miniature marshmallows. I make sure there are some marshmallows behind the trigger but every so often I'll find the marshmallows gone but the trap still upright as I left it and not sprung. What could be eating the marshmallows and not springing the trap? It's not ants.

I simply Raccoon proofed my feeder. Let them climb on it all they want. They're not getting one grain of corn out of it.

I put carpet tack strips up high on the legs. Wire them on front and back of legs. They are cheap and coons don't climb them. Just make sure you don't slip n fall on them might look like a wild cat got hold of you.
