Soo.....I stop by the RifleGear Store in Plano and MAN is it nice. Everything is shiny, new and they carry lots of rifles you can't handle anywhere else. Lots of Daniel Defense, Ambush, LWRC, Adams, Bushmaster ACR, etc.
Sad thing is they arrived a few years after the black rifle peak. There were 5-6 salesmen in the store and 2 customers browsing the merchandise. I'll be surprised if that retail location lasts 4 more months.
I was drooling on the LWRC rifles and they are all priced say 2300 - $2700.00. The sales guy starts telling me if I buy one today, I'll get $100.00 off, flip up sights, a free Aimpoint Micro and one of the 6.8's also comes with 500 rds of free ammo. I look at the guy and say "Why don't they just sell the gun for $1500.00 instead of $2500.00 and a bunch of free stuff I don't want?"
I'm starting to think rifles are piling up in storage when manufacturers are offering all kinds of goodies to get you to buy a gun. I just noticed Rock River is offering 10% off all online orders also.

Those people are freaking crazy. I ordered a new rifle last week and caleld them to see how much they charged for FFL transfer, $45 , I only wanted to ship it to them because it would give me an excuse to check out the store, I really have no reason to drive up there any other time. Don't think they have anything in my price range, ecspecially since I can't even afford their FFL fee.

They have a bunch of overhead to pay for...that's a high rent area!!
I am still looking for the perfect apron, one with reinforced knee areas would be perfect.

Whenever my buddies and I see a new place open (any kind), we always makes bets on how long they're going to last. This sounds like one of those we'd make bets on.

If you go thru the store you will find something for sure that fits your budget/interests at a reasonable price. I went in there yesterday during lunch and will be doing so alot since I work close by. We have to frequent the local stores in order to keep them going, unless you want only big boxes and mail order (note this applies with any store other than one with the intials CTD ). CCI Mini Mag 300 packs were a little under $30 which isn't out of range. Metalform 9mm AR mags were priced reasonable (will be picking some of those up today during lunch)...and they had 3 different color styles on the Keltec PMR 30 at under $400 (I believe that is the price I remember) each which is not something you see everyday if you are looking for one of those pistols. Most ammo prices were about what you'd find in most retail chains other than the big boxes (not cheap but not too high either). I find most gunstores usually have their best deals on used guns but this place hasn't been operating long enough to have any - everything is new.

They need to advertise more. I had no idea a new firearm store opened in Plano.

Big money rent in a pretty terrible location for a store. I hope they make it but I don't see how. There are a few stores around that I never see anybody buying a gun.

if you enjoy browsing, looking at stuff, help them out and buy 'something'
I did that for Gunmaster when they were a tiny shop on Parker and Custer
it's tough being in the gun retail business when you have the internet to compete with
they have a lot of potential customers (West Coasters moving and working in Plano) I think they'll be fine, if they advertise at the right time

I don't think their prices are bad at all, especially for a retail store. They have Anderson Lowers for $49.99, Spikes Lowers for $99.00 and their other stock is priced similar. If you do a lot of internet shopping you can find items for 10-15% less, but they have a retail location to pay for.
It's a great place but the location is awful and I'm not sure West Plano is an AR-15 town. I live in a neighborhood of 650 homes and there are maybe 1/2 dozen hunters in here.

I don't like the CCI mini-mags as much as the standard velocity. SV is nowhere.

I don't see anything wrong with their location. Very easy to get to. Centrally located especially for Collin county. Lots of people moving into this area over the next couple years. They have been successful in California so I would think they can succeed here. Time will tell. I wish them luck and will try to give them some business.

I kinda got the same feeling when I was i there but i was thinking more 1yr. Who knows, they might surprise us but I think the days of brick and mortar stores are fast approaching extinction. Anyone paid attention to what Amazon has done in DFW area past few months?

Anyone notice the cupcake store next door? Count me in! Yes I did. 2 extreme chocolate, 2 black and whites and one peanut butter. I don't see anything wrong with the location either and neither do a lot of other retailers. That center is pretty full with good names. Demographically there's a lot of wealth in that market. I think they could do with a little less of the black rifles and maybe more to the sporting side. I've not seen any advertising so the name didn't mean anything to me. Wouldn't have known about it if it wasn't for the forum and I drive by it quite often.

I gave Rifle Gear a little business last week. I needed an AR upper put together. I bought two small items from them to complete it and had them put it all together. They were great to work with. some things seemed expensive, where others were same prices as big online stores. I will do business with them again. Overall great experience.
You should give some serious thought to thanking your lucky stars your from Texas.

Nice store. Friendly staff. Lots to look at. I did ask when they would start accepting trade's, and the response was "hopefully in a few weeks"
