I had one, had issues with the solar panel being covered in the corn dust. Its attached and is too close to the spinner plate. Replaced it.

I have several. I really like that everything is housed within the one unit. No wires for the squirrels or coons to rip out. They have been very reliable and are very easy to program. Yes. I've experienced the dust coating the solar panel, but I just wipe it off each time I fill the feeder if needed. I don't use cages on any of my feeders. When I catch a coon on my game camera, the Dukes traps get set.

I made my own cages, not that hard. I have never had the battery die because of the dust. My oldest one I bought in 2003, have had to replace the motor 2 years ago and the panel at the same time. I used a standalone panel, now place on the side of the barrel.
I have a couple friends with some that are over 15 years old with minor maintenance. I really like them for their reliability, especially for less than $100 shipped.
Also use the dikes when needed. Cage helps me more for squirrels.

I have 2. both have been running non stop for 6+ years now. The negative I have to say is one of them has a clock that runs slow. That just recently started. I really like them but now want to upgrade to a 12v.

I have 3 running, bought at Bass Pro got the extra warranty, 2 yr., take back just before expire start with new unit again. Using any type protein in the feeder sure will coat the solar panel. Can set the time so many different ways and each time can be set for different length of time.
