Got out on a real adventure over the weekend. We made our set just prior to dawn a few hundred yards away from the roost. We called on this set of toms for a bit. I realized that my buddy wouldn't be able to take the shot, so I put him down. The bird harvested was a little north of 40 yards out. Hit him with number 5's. Full camo in a bush no blind, two decoy's Had birds all around us for the rest of the weekend, could not connect. Yesterday the wife and I had fresh Turkey fajitas for supper. The best turkey hunt I have enjoyed thus far and my largest tom to date! 1 1/2'' spurs / 10'' beard

So did you pluck that bird? Looks like you still have the skin on it. I never have the patience but they would smoke a lot better with the skin on.

I've done the turkey fajitas too. They're different, good but different.

Thanks Fella's!!! I skinned the bird as a fact, I don't have quite the taste for smoked turkey. My family loves it when I smoke them for Thanksgiving and Christmas, but I wanted to do something different. The fajita trick was my buddies idea and it worked well. I still have another half to cook, not sure what I will do with it. I smoke my meat on a heavy smoke no heat for about 2 hours then I put it into the foil pan, cover in cold beer then wrap in foil to make that sucker freggin delicious! I hail myself as a cooking mammer jammer
