I got myself a bird Thursday evening west of Rocksprings. The morning was a little windy and cloudy. I knew were some birds were roosting but after they flew down they went the other way. They answered a couple times but didn't want to play with me since they had their own hen. That evening I setup about 600 yds from their roost opposite of where I setup that morning. I was hoping to cut them off going to roost and that's exactly what happened. About 5:30 one answered. Then about 6:00 another did along with the first but they weren't working in. Then about 6:15 I heard a third (all really close now) but then it was silence for 20 mins. I relaxed, set my gun down, and got more comfortable. I figured they high-tailed it to the roost. I happened to catch movement out of the corner of my eye and there were all three trotting in front of me at 50 yds! Luckily there was one small clump of agarita between us and I raised my gun and dropped the biggest at 30 yds. I think I just got lucky but I'll take it! -thedoveshooter
