On some of the x-sights you will need to go into your settings and un mute the sound. Some of them are defaulting to mute

Shadow -

I believe the issue is that we are selecting microphone ON with firmware 248 but sound is still muted.

At least that is the case with both my Xsights.

Sound worked with previous firmware builds so it appears as though Obsidian doesn't want to hear from me anymore
crazy

You are correct , it is muted and I haven't seen a way around it at all. Just got a few emails from several people after I posted and Ill take there word for it as well as yours. I just know that some of the 3x and 5x Ive updated here have defaulted to mute in the menus. Have I tested that part yet ? Big Fat NO. But will this weekend.
Still trying to get an answer for the odd and even x&y settings for a truer zero.
Its been a heck of a ride but at least they are getting closer now with this update than any previous release.

ATN have posted on their Facebook re HuntTxHogs findings re differences between viewfinder and video outputs and are asking if anyone else has experienced this. If you have, well worth replying as this is a first from ATN to pro actively seek feedback.

Hi X-sight owners does anybody else have this problem with fw248 ? If I plug my 32Gb sd card in it will read new firmware from it and install it with no problems, but if I try to record video of what I am looking at it will not record anything. However if I use my 4Gb sd card it will record both hdef video and stills with no problem, is this another bug?
Other than that it is looking like a great scope for what I will be using it for.

I'm recording on a 32 gig card.

Did you delete the bin file from the card after upgrading?

Reformat the card on someone else's computer as maybe your using some variant file structure the xsight can't write to, there is no way to troubleshoot from here so that's why I recommend formatting on a friends machine.

You might want to ensure your 32 gb card is class 10 If you haven't already.

its just a jubilee clip it clamps round the scope then you tighten it with a screwdriver. The jubilee clip is threaded through a piece of plastic weaver rail. Hope this helps. If you want some pictures, let me know.

Ok Techies- Whats the resolution of the viewfinder? Is there a loss from camera to tv screen? Lower resolution?

Is there an AV out that a hi def monitor could be hooked to so maybe your spotter can see hi def??

There is no AV out just HDMI. I don't know yet if that is for use during filming or only for playback of recorded data.

Dumb question but I just have to ask.

If I sight in my scope at 50 yards and record the x:y values.
Then I sight in again at 125 yd and record the x:y vales.
And just for sake of argument I sight in at 250 and record x:y vales.

When I'm out shooting depending on my target distance could I change my x:y vales to the ones I previously recorded and be accurate.

Or the scope just doesn't function in that matter.

Kyle, If I recall it is 640x480 resolution on the Xsight viewfinder.

From scope to tv screen there shouldn't be a loss in quality as it is being carried over a micro-HDMI cable.

Cost on a HD LCD screen can vary widely, some of the DIY'ers out there probably have the best units highlighted for the cost but I am not thinking a 50.00 Ebay special is going to cut it AND it will need to take micro HDMI as an input.

Fred -

It is for both playback and recording, of course you wouldn't have to record onboard the Xsight instead you could run the micro HDMI to a mini DVR that accepts the input and record using an external DVR. The cost of that rig is probably not worth the effort and results for recording.

I am not too keen on hunting looking at an LCD screen either, it isn't a natural hold or shooting position for me.

Basically what you've outlined is windage and elevation adjustments for a digital scope. What works for traditional optics with regards to dialing in your distance using mechanical knobs is accomplished via the menu controls.

In theory it should not only work once but rather each and every time!

wouldn't a hidef phone do this via wifi?
you should be able to see what the scope sees but in high definition I would think, recording and playback it should not matter as you can playback to a smart tv.

I'm with HuntTXHogs in the fact that I don't want an external screen. Not only is it an unnatural position I don't want all the back light bouncing off my face at night.

Has ATN addressed the status of their advertised gyroscope/image stabilization feature on the 5x ?

Perhaps I'm looking at this all wrong but I don't see how image stabilization can work in a scope. A camera? Yes....but it seems to my way of thinking that if you're stabilizing the image you could end up not really pointing exactly where you're looking when you squeeze the trigger.

Need some help before I send it back for repairs.

I updated to the 246, I got it through the update, removed the card and started checking my settings. I turned on the WIFI, hit the left arrow to go back in the menu and the screen locked up. Buttons were not responsive so I took the battery cap off, put it back on and the endless loop started.

It will turn itself on, stay on for about 20 seconds and reboot.

I have read through the thread and tried to reload an earlier firmware but the card is not being read at all by the scope. If I hold the power button it will turn off eventually but when turned back on it does the same cycle.

I contacted ATN today and they suggested new batteries although mine were new and lithiums. I tried more new batteries tonight and have the same results.

I plugged in a usb cable and it gives me a screen with a power supply or mass storage connection but the buttons are not responsive.
Any suggestions to stop the loop of reboots?
