I have a Surefire.
The red filter really limits the light's range, but on white light you can read a street sign beyond a hundred yards. Crazy bright for how compact it is. There may be better lights on the market, but I don't keep up with lights and can only speak of the one I have.

I would also check out Insight
Stream light
Surefire
All 3 are quality. I own several streamlights because of the warranty. By saying that doesn't mean you will need the warranty , they just back their product. Sure Fire are pretty awesome but so is the price tag. At the end of the day its still a flashlight.

Surefire are in my opinion hands down best light made. I own several. With that being said they sure cost an arm and leg to use often. For hunting I'd go with something rechargeable. Streamlight. Or any other light for hunting. But my shot gun used my 6xp. The light alone will stop a would be intruder in his tracks.

Inforce WMLx or SureFire. I've had both and like the SureFire.

The Streamlight TRL-1 HL is freaking awesome. I have one on the AR and another on a pistol. Small and super bright. We were out spotlighting for pigs one night using an older 12v halogen spot light. Half way through I turned on my TLR-1 HL and it was so much brighter than the spot light that we pretty much stopped using the spot light completely.
I also have the green spot light version on another AR and that one is pretty cool too.

I couldn't bring myself to spend the money on a Streamlight. I have bought two of the smaller 190 lumen weapon lights at Academy for about $50 and they are very bright. I'm happy with them.

The HL is 638 lumens. It's definitely not inexpensive.

I use a TLR-1s at the moment. I would like to upgrade to the HL.

i have a TLR1- HL on my duty weapon. It's very bright, I love it. I've had good luck with Streamlight. I use the Stinger and Strion at work as well.

I like a LED maglite taped to the forearm.

Depends on the use. For 50 yards and in, I love the Haley Inforce WML with offset. Great self contained unit, can't go wrong. I have used the rest.
