Can't afford and don't need a Thumler's Model B rotary, or a new RCBS rotary & got an OLD one that's about dead and needs a new drum...so what's the best case shaker out there for around $100+/-, since I won't use it for more than a K of dirty hulls a year these days....but Thumlers UltraVibe's look like a winner but double my planned budget
RCBS's are getting terrible reviews, Hornady looks OK, various Lymans fit the profile but dunno anything about them & too many choices priced too close together to see the FAB diff's between them, or some of the other brands I saw at Midway/Grafs/Natchez/Amazon today. And mebbe a dumb question, but can I use the metal pins media in a shaker? Ron

Hey Ron,
I use an old Thumlers and it works fine; cannot really go wrong here. I imagine any of your options will work just fine for the limited amount of tumbling you are suggesting.
I generally like RCBS products, and if you have a problem with them, they will replace them quick fast and in a hurry... so I would not be overly nervous about buying one of them.
Another option would be Dillon of course, but like Thumlers, it is more expensive than what you are looking to spend.
The stainless pins won't work in the vibrating tumbler. You will need walnut or corncob media.

OD, I could something like that with the old RCBS Sidwinder that has the barrel mouth busted up from benig stored in hot garage's or outdoor storage sheds...Hmmm...it just makes the most gawdawful racket turning the drum ....mebbe if I lubed the drive shaft & gears some after 20-25 years it woud help..but it was always LOUD ...and is HUGE for my tiny work space in the storage shed out back where I live now, and keeps the neighbors up all nite if I leave it run over nite even with the doors closed.
Midway's got Hornady M2's on sale for $75 from around $100 bux , but are on backorder.... ThxAll Ron

I've been using this rock and brass tumbler since the 1970s, and it's still going strong. No telling how many thousands of cases it's polished. I just let it run all day while at work, or overnight. If you want to speed up the process--say in 2-3 hours--just add a little car polishing paste to it. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lortone-Compact-...=item25a2751933

There is a NIB sealed box Thumler's Model B & a bag of Sinclair pin media on GB right now, in the Reloading Supplies section at $130 & $25 freight with No Reserve & 2 days left on the Listing that I've been watching...and am not going to bid on after all.
Going price for Model B's is about $190/$200 and about $45/$50 bux on the media...and it looks like it's gonna get closer to the $200+ price point that's not worth fighting for, with my play money budget constraint's.
Lots of Medical Issues eating all the loose change in the house, and getting to some final outcomes almost 2 years later...but we are finally getting some reliable answers to the "Issues" and are addressing them albeit with scary solutions.
So when I get back this afternoon from the wife's getting a D&C laser cleaning on her 2nd Lense implant, I'll go on and order something and stop stewing over it. I need to keep messing with something other than dwelling on the obvious and continue to plan for more pleasant activities. Thx All for the comments. Ron
