Same for me, have to pull batteries and restart the scope,
issue is reported to Sachal.

Thank you all that contributed.

Sachal,

Will the reticle be centered in 1x zoom as well?

Thanks for the update!

Yea,USB Power will for sure be a nice option,
but as for now you cant start the scope
without the AA batteries.

I received my xsight just before .228 came out, so I have been following this thread from the beginning. What I'm interested in seeing in the the new firmware besides the zoom is more attention given to the Ballistics compensator. I like the idea of just diaing my yardage in and hitting the target. This can be achieved by Ballistics compensator or a customizable reticle which displays set yardage.
The problem I have with the BC in version .228 is how to zero the compensator. I have the reticle set at zero at 100 yards, when I turn on the BC (which is set at 100 yards) the reticle is not matched with the blue T (which indicates zero). It should be. This throws off the calulation for bullet drop. Perhaps the experimental BC is not factoring the bullet climate height ( in order to compensate for scope being +/- 3" higher then barrel. but instead assumes the optic line of sight is the same as barrel.
I hope ATN continues to perfect this program. I hope they don't scrape it in the new fireware update.

Keep in mind that there isnt enough info for you to input on this scope at this time to get a correct bdc. It is still experimental.

USB POWER (questions if some has tried this)

!. If you have your batteries in and the usb battery plugged in will the scope work? if so...

2. If you allow the batteries to run out while in use will the scope then draw power from the USB with out taking out batteries?

that should be right.
I think the batteries have to be in to complete the start circuit but once on power can be drawn from the usb (I have played with this on my 5)

The issue seems to be that if you power on the scope with USB plugged in, it expects a USB data connection. If the scope would default to USB charge mode instead of data, it would probably be possible to start it without batteries.

I would really LOVE to see this feature in a future firmware...

Another Beta test report from independent shooter Simon
I was able to put the X-Sight through its paces last night and am happy to report I concur the PoI shift issue has been resolved. We spent a few hours last night bunny bashing with it on an HMR – and shot a variety of ranges and magnifications out to about 140 yrds. I can confidently say that any misses were pilot error over any issue with the unit. It performed very well.
We have several other testers using X Sight and they are reporting no POI shift, and no loss of reticle on zoom.
I wont speak for the guys at ATN, however we will furnish our customers here in the UK with the update when we are permitted to do so, but I will know by the end of today when that will be.
This from the ATN face book forum???

This is all great news. I can't wait till my new 5 shows up. My 3 just wouldn't focus to my satisfaction not matter how I adjusted the ocular lens.

When you start the scope with the USB cable plugged in, it will give
you 2 alternatives, USB power or Mass storage.

Kinda cool update, I got a e mail from ATN recommending to keep batteries tight and that they recommend lithium batteries for the longest run time. The e mail was in bulletin form. I am not a big fan of ATN anymore, But I thought that was a great step in the right direction of getting my confidence back. Has anyone else got that e mail?

On the beta of the new firmware I was on 4-5hrs on lithiums with no hint of low battery. I don't know for sure but it seemed better.

Email received here.
Was hoping for the release of the new firmware before
heading out tomorrow for two consecutive nights of hog whackin and varmit callin. Hope my Streamlight Super Tac IR will get me out to 300 yards.
Haven't read one review on this IRI used with the X-Sight yet.

Cheers

I got one and it kicks arse, you will see 200 easy and should get 300. now will the scope see that far, who knows?

It would've been nice for ATN to send the test firmware to customers who actually use the scope to hunt with, like they did with the European crowd.
It's nice to know their listening to their customers, as we know all of their tips came from this forums Beta testers.
