I had my dad out to my place yesterday to sight in his Ruger American Predator in 243. I spun up the Harvester can to see how it performed. It sounds good and recoil is super low with this setup. It isnt as quiet as my Templar can but I would not expect it to be as it is smaller and much cheaper. Here is a pic of dad shooting to 425 and getting solid hits on the coyote target. Here is a video clip of him shooting to 300 at the 4" round plate and he went 5 for 5. Very proud as he is new to rifles and this was his first time shooting past 200 yds. Nice shooting dad. Good to hear the Ruger is pretty accurate. And yes, the can is pretty light weight. Under 11.5 ounces. Light enough not to mess with the barrel too much.
It is far more important to be able to hit the target than it is to haggle over who makes a weapon or who pulls a trigger.

Yea the can is nice for what it was intended for. I got it for my future wife so she didn't blow my eardrums out in the deer blind anymore. She shoots a 22" barrel 243 with a jec brake. That thing will blow the snot out of your nose sitting beside it in the blind.

Yup. Those JECs are great for the shooter, not so great for bystanders Was squadded with Berry one time and when I touched it off he said "dang that thing is rude!"

That dang Ruger American is a wolf in sheep's clothing!!! For a grand you can get one in 6.5 Creed and a decent scope and rock it a long way off

Dad isnt a big spender on rifles. He buys bunch of cheap stuff. The scope is a coyote special 3-9 from nikon. I try to trll him to buy better stuff. The scope isnt bad but that reticle with 3 dang circles in it is not good for small groups. Those rifles are great for the money. If bc made a stock for it, that would be one heck of a rifle.

Wow, shooting out to 425 with that scope is really good. I think Byods makes after market stocks for it but don't know if you Pops is alright with a laminated stock.

Yea with my math the lower circle was 5.5 moa so i just told him to hold it slightly over the coyote steel and it was dead on. Also there was no wind at all.

Do you think the extra sound with that can is because of the semi-brake at the end of it? Just curious because I am thinking of getting an Omega which is just the smaller version. At 9" that is a pretty long suppressor even though it is very light....

No, the suppression is done before it hits the brake portion. The omega probably has a different baffle design which will make it more effective. The omega should be a great can. Personally im going to get a saker k for a sbr 556.

Very nice! I'm a big fan of both the Ruger American and the Harvester. I've shot my 7 mag A-bolt out to 500 with the harvester, and hammered a 12" plate. It does an amazing job of reducing recoil. I put 30 rounds through a 300 Win and 10 rounds through a 308 American in an afternoon, and never noticed recoil.
I also carried the harvester all over the mountains in Oregon for a week long elk hunt. The weight and length were never an issue. I'm totally sold on it for what I want it for - a light can that is portable and versatile. I'm planning to get the 1/2x28 end cap and use it for just about all of my rifles.
