So a couple weeks ago I noticed the neighboring property had 2 very nice black bucks grazing on a ridge that I could see a ways off from my stand. The property doesnt have a high fence between us and I was just wondering if black bucks usually jump fences or not? Ive never actually seen any on our side of the fence but figured they could easily jump over and if so would you take one or let him walk?

I've seen them on low fence places, one place right on a very well traveled FM road, so I don't think they do. To answer your second question, if he (or she even) was mature, on my place, and I didn't see an ear tag, you bet I would. Now, there's always that pesky tattoo problem.

If they have a good fence and everything they need for the animals chances are they won't jump. They are more likely to scoot through openings but a good, tight seven strand fence will hold most of them.

They like holes in net wire or crawl under barb wire fences. . I have never seen one jump a 4' fence.

Never seen ours jump, but they can find their way through some pretty good fences. Ours move from pasture to pasture and came from somewhere. Last I looked, we have about 30 or so on us now.

If it is a good sheep and goat fence it will keep them in. They prefer to find a hole under a fence or in it to cross. Like posted above it will take a multi-wire barbwire fence to keep them in. I have seen blackbuck jump a netwire fence when pressured or pushed hard. They can be experts at finding holes in your fences that were put up to keep them in.

We ran a doe down a road for quite some time , she turned on the next road and ran a ways down that road and never tried to jump the fence .

They wander across the road sometimes too, a few summers ago our varmint hunt coulda turned into a blackbuck massacre.

The pasture across the road from you is the first place that one was seen. Wandered if ya'll ever saw them or if they crossed over. I know our fence there is easy for the them to get through

Was out on the Prior Ranch in December and saw a black buck jump from inside a fenced feeding area and take off. Couldn't believe it. They much prefer holes in fences though and will pace up and down looking for an opening.
