Also mounted was the illuminator that it came with and a Crimson Trace IR laser spot (with filter). Shot it in the day mode and night mode. X/Y were both about -50 at 100 yards. Reticle usable at 2.5x and off the screen at 3.0x. V.2.0 installed. Illuminator good out to 100 yards. At 200 yards there seems to be a gain issue where it closed down due to foreground illumination. If I hand covered the illuminator for a bit then uncovered it, I could see the target fine at 200 yds till the gain closed down again.
Now for the issue. Picture froze on 4 shots at the shot. At about half the shots the picture went out completely. The only way to recover the image was to reset by taking the battery cover off/on. This issue seems to be recoil related. I was shooting .308, 150 grain Monarch.
I must say I like the scope other than that. I have had all the issues previously reported too, and I think I can work around those, but the scope going out on the shot is unacceptable. I've emailed the dealer and will be in touch with ATN this afternoon. I would also like to say what a great combination I think the ATN x and the Crimson Trace are, even though it duplicates the targeting solution. I'm new a this but like the ATN a lot.

Well DusterFlyer,

I too just started having the same problem with the screen lock up. I am shooting a suppressed 300 blackout and after about 20 shots my screen froze. I could not get it to clear until I removed the batteries. It did that two other times. Then it would turn off every shot. Batteries are brand new energizer lithums, and the scope is tight to the rail.I tried calling ATN and there phones are down so I called the nightvision guys and they said they would get me a RMA. They said that they will get ATN to exchange it. My scope has the red buttons and I updated when I got it last week. I hope this dosnt turn out to be a common problem.

Thanks for the replies so far. The screen locked up 4 times and the screen went off 15-20 times. Used regular Duracell AA bateries, and rechargable batteries. Probably had 4 sets of fresh batteries thru the sight during this range period. Took the sight off the rifle and put it back on in a check for loose mounting. Eric your experience sounds the same as mine. Mine also has the red buttons.

Yup, I am not playing games, spent too much of my hard earned money and had to beg forgiveness to this day from the wife. ATN will either send me another one or Im going to Photon. I can deal with the other issues, last think I need is the scope to go out on me in the dark in the middle of the hunt. That is a big issue and the more I look on the net the more I am seeing of this issue.

Darn! This isn't the news I was hoping to hear. I'm heading out for a range session tomorrow, weather permitting, but it sounds like it could be a really frustrating outing. Sure hope not; everything has worked perfectly on my new scope (with black buttons and white lettering) so far. I'll take a suitcase full of batteries and hope for the best. I'll post a report when I return.

I don't even want to ask, but...how many here are reporting problems with 30 cal recoil and the X-sight?

techna, I haven't figured out how or if that's possible, either, so if you happen to find out, I'd sure like to hear about it. It sure would be nice to be able to preview what you've captured on the little SD card while you're still in the field and without having to go to cabling and iPhones or Androids. Unscrewing that cap for access to the various ports means opening it up to whatever happens to be falling out of the air! Like rain, sleet, snow, dust. . .

Well, I don't know how I feel about THIS:

https://twitter.com/Scott_Country/status/552784009831677953

If true, I am absolutely not comfortable waiting weeks for “retrofit” of a scope purchased in December when it appears ATN is shipping the new-production model with the manual focus ring. Can anyone confirm that this is that actually the case here? I am having a hard time with the idea that owners with problems with the units ATN mis-manufactured should be pushed back “in line” (for potentially WEEKS) behind new orders.

Yes that is the case for the 3x12 units.

Mine is mounted on 6.8 spc with no issues with it freezing on shots.

Well I just got off the phone with ATN, Guess what they told me. They said if I send it back they will not send me a replacement until they have there tech check it over to make sure it really isn't working. He told me that could take 6 to 8 weeks before I hear back. What a joke. So then I asked for his manager, guess what, in voicemail I went. They know they have problems but dont want to admit it. Go check there face book forum, 258 comments and AATN did not respond to one yet. They created the forum. Whats up with that. Now what??? do I do. Argggggg Be forewarned, if you had not bought one, please read all the reviews. 50 shots thru mine and its broken with a suppressed 300 blk out. Really, My 10 year old daughter shoots this gun with me and she didn't break yet.

Yea I have about half the post in that forum lol

I sent mine back for a replacement and they told me 4-6 weeks on sending me a new one. I don't understand that, but they said they don't have any units on hand at all right now.

I was just told that the Scott Country 3x shipment is of pre-focus ring models that were held up in customs 45 days. In other words, if my 3x was like the rest, don't get one from Scott Country.

He also told me my retrofit would be completed "within 30 days." Huh...

Well Guys, Here is a update. ATN called me back and said that they will help me out. I have a RA in hand, They said they will exchange it for me. They said soon as they get it if they have them in stock they will turn it around. Right now they are out of stock but are expecting a big shipment in a few days. Makes me nervous, I feel like I am rolling the dice on getting one back soon. I hate putting trust in a company that I started loosing faith in. I am going to go to the range one last time tomorrow and see if the scope fails again. If it does its going back, If it dosnt I may hang on to the RMA and wait a couple days.

Ok, Another Update, I spoke Sachal with ATN, He and Aaron really came across nice. Aaron first called me to get me the RMA, then I actually got a second call about 30 min from Sachal. He asked me to try a couple things before I send it back, and I am good with that. He asked me to try fresh batteries and to make sure the battery cap is very tight. If that does not work he said to send it back using the RA. I certainly dont mind trying things out. Much better than the first response I got. New update in about a week or so as well for the reticle issue's. Right now I am a Happy Customer. Wew, I am emotionally exhausted. Tine for a rum and coke. Good news is Sachal is still around, he said he has been a bit busy so he hasnt been on this forum in a while. We miss you Sachal, and it was a pleasure talking to you.

My problem with the screen occurred while mounted on my DPMS .308. A friend of mine used it on his .223 2 days before and did not experience the same issues with the screen. Specifically, there were no screen freezes or screen failures while firing the .223 with the my ANT X sight mounted on it.

With all the issues my first X-Sight had, I didn't experience screen freeze on my 223. It seems maybe it shouldn't be rated for as large a calibre as they said unless there's a batch with bad battery compartments.
I feel for you guys, Scott Country has been nothing but helpful over here in the UK. My first scope went back on Monday and I had my replacement Wednesday.

When I spoke to Sachal he was supprised to hear about the screen freeze and screen black out. I asked him to check the ATN forum on there facebook page. I am going to creat a log on there page to have folks let them know how many folks are having this issue. As far as caliper goes. Im shooting a 300 suppressed black out. That has less recoil than a 223. So I dont believe it is that. Sachal said the only mechanical part in the scope is the battery compartment.

ok guys I know it is frustrating and you want to vent lets just use this thread to work through the issues. If the resolution is to ship it back for a replacement then lets leave it at that. with every launch of a new product the is a percentage that is not software related quality control issues and i'm sure Sachal will get you guys squared away. That being said lets try and trouble shoot the issue IE (new batteries, tighten the battery compartment) before we declare all hope being lost. I remember one user screaming about the device not recording it turned out he did not format his memory card. We have a lot of test cases here and me and other don't mind using our unites to rule out some issues. i'm going on a hunt this weekend I will try and use all features I will bring back many recordings both night and day. im on firmware 1.8.00.200. if we keep bickering and getting every thread closed it wont help anyone.

I would like a moment to Thank ATN for this ambitious/momentous thing they are trying to achieve.

The Every Man Night Vision Scope

First to have a Night vision scope under $1000

First to have a Night Vision Scope in Full 1080P color

First to have a Night Vision Scope with digital Compass Geo Tracking an Velocity

First to have a Night Vision Scope with Wifi

First to have a Night Vision Scope with built in recording

First to have a Night Vision Scope With Smart Device compatibility.

I know we are complaining about the bugs but you can take all of the above away and just have the day/night feature and they would still fly out the door at $749 the fact of the matter is if ATN closed up shop and went under now what would you buy for $749? they are busting there but to get the bugs worked out and this last firmware shows there commitment so please just give them a little more time to work it out. You know at least we have something to play with right now!!! We all could still be waiting in pre-order limbo

I'll take my .308 back to the range in a few days with the X Sight and try the recommendations above again to see if it can be procedurally fixed. Again to be clear, I like the sight and can work around the other bugs till they are worked out. I have emailed ATN and Night Vision Guys, yesterday, and if there are any other procedures or data points they need I will be happy to try/record them.
Will

That's what has me concerned now: I have a DPMS 308. Never mounted my 3x due to focus issues. ATN will have it for at least a month, and when it gets here...my recoil could shut it down.

I think it's worth trying out. Your results may vary and this to shall get worked out. It still could be operator induced.

battery cap not on tight causing screen going out after a shot on a .308 was a known issue with me
Issue was fixed on spot by turning the cap a little more where the O Ring is no longer visible/barely visible

scope and rail may be loose after few shots, they need to be re-tighten with low strength locTite

those were also issues on my ATN Thor (thermal )

look at my previous post where I presented some things to do / look for

I am heading to SHOT show next week, I'll talk to Sachal about these issues
