Same thing here hunt harper texas in the hill country. For some reason this year the only shooters I saw were on my trail camera at night. Other than that nothing but 2 1/2 year old 8 pointers. This has been the slowest year I have had in a while. Lucky this Friday thru Sunday I am going to get to go down to cotulla to hunt my brothers n laws. My brother shot a 151 inch ten pointer there this weekend. I'm just hoping the rain will hold off long anough for me to get a good one

I went into this season excited because of all of the trail cam photos of decent mature bucks and the number of deer I was seeing on the cam during daylight
Bow season was tough, we passed on some smaller deer but didn't see the numbers we had hoped. Rifle season came and the deer disappeared or went nocturnal. I can't say it is was hunting pressure or abundance of browse and acorns. We ended up with a couple of nice older doe for grinding meat but never had an opportunity to take a decent buck all season. we just didn't see enough deer during shooting hours

I had a great year. Good 10 point on my property near Abilene and a nice cull mule deer in the Panhandle. Lots of meat in the freezer. Dang that muley is good.

Got my 10 pt on Nov 8. Nothing since.
Will be out the next two weekends hoping for a spike or a doe to add a bit more meat to the freezer.

I took two does as a guest on my dad's lease, so at least I got some venison for the freezer. Didn't take anything at my lease, but I've got several young bucks that should be good deer next year. I passed on the only legal buck I saw, he's probably 3.5, maybe 4.5, and I think he'll be pretty good next year. Only saw a few does, though, so they all got a pass. It wasn't a very good year out there, but I've got reason to believe that next year will be better.

I shot a decent 10 point and a spike on my own property this was my first year to hunt it so it was a pretty neat feeling.

Pretty empty freezer here. Have some scraps left over from my Mulie I shot in September. Saw a bunch of nice bucks, but never could convince myself to shoot one of them (possibly a little regret with one of them). Freezer is getting thin, but I still may try to sneak out and put an arrow through a doe if I can find an afternoon with no meetings. If not, it is time to move on to pheasant, javis, fishing, and golf...until next year!

took a doe w/ my bow the last day of archery season, then nothing since. Either too young or too small. Finally, Sunday morning I had a shot at a nice doe at 180 yards. Knocked her down then she ups and runs off. Found a small chunk of meat and some hair and that was it. 5 minutes after she leaves in comes a little axis spike, I fire and dust kicks up behind him. Not a hair disturbed. On the way out I stopped at the ranch's rifle range and fired my rifle, yet, 8" high. Got jogged around somehow and Knocked off kilter. Still have the late antlerless. maybe I'll get one or two more for the freezer. It's looking awful empty right now.

Rifles are similar to boats and young women...there's no end to how much money you can pour into them without making them any more useful.

Hunted a new property this year. Passed on a great mature 8 very first morning of rifle season and waited all season hoping to see it again. Watched several good young bucks and ton of does every day but never saw big daddy again...Hoping to pop a few does during extended season and get my wife her first every deer!

That's right, now I remember Sapper. Did you ever get any of those you had posted from there? Nope sure didn't. I hunted hard all through bow season and then quite a few more time during gun season. Once the acorns fell and the gun hunters came out all my deer went nocturnal or just quit coming to the feeder. Gonna do my best to make some new setups on some highly used trails and try to get my blinds brushed in really good before next season. Kind of excited to get back out and check the camera and see what bucks made it through the season.
