I've got lots of different calibers from pistol rounds to rifle rounds and shotgun shells. How do you store them? I used to just stack the boxes on a shelf, but we moved into a new house with not as many shelves and I am looking for another way that may be more organized and possibly not use up shelf space. Thanks in advance for any ideas!

For bulk ammo I also use metal 50 cal cans. Also have some smaller metal cans for ammo. But for small stuff I stack in the factory box on a self.

Thanks for the ideas! After starting this thread I thought about buying some tackle boxes and dividing up into pistol and rifle rounds, then it's easy to stack and then also easy to just grab a box and go to the range or go to the lease... I have a couple ammo cans, but would just need to get many more of them.

I like the ammonia cans but the only problem is a 50 cal can full of 45 is really heavy to take to the range lol.

ammo cans and a label maker. There is a guy on craigslist that sells them cheaper than the stores. There is a guy on a facebook trade group in Navarro county that sells 10 for $80. He doesn't get them very often. Next time I'm gonna buy at least 20 more from him.

Tractor Supply has a clearance sale going on with their heavy duty black plastic ammo boxes. I'm all set on metal ammo cans, but was tempted to grab some today as cheap as they were.

Ice chests work pretty well. They usually set empty anyway, plus most folks have more than one. You can throw those dessicant (sp) packs in to keep moisture at bay.
They stack well and are easy to transport.

I keep most of mine in my old college dorm fridge. Pulled all the guts out, plugged one hole, filled it up with ammo and one old sock full of desiccant(to absorb moisture). Done.

Y'all keep ammo long enough to worry about storage? I'm like a girl with money, when I get the ammo I shoot the ammo, don't have to worry about storing it that way.

I have several old ammo crates that I currently keep my ammo in. Rope handles and stout wood works beautifully. They used to hold tank mines and other high faluten stuff.

They stack well and are easy to transport. That could be a good move in case of a fire. Let's face it, when ammo starts going off, firemen are going to pull back and watch it burn.
