Hi everyone I am coming to Texas next week for the first time my girl friends family lives there in Colman and has a large track of land any tips or advise from the experts that hunt Texas all the time would be appreciated. I will be there for a week being from Mississippi I am sure Texas is very different Thanks.

Yea pack heavy cause you won't go back to Mississippi . Coleman has some ranches with some really good bucks . And they also have some day hunted type ranches that ain't got anything. Good luck and have fun !

Can you feed deer in MS? If so, you already know the "program"! If your in-laws have feeders or deer plots out, use those. If not, get a couple bags of corn when you get here and spread a bag in a place that looks good to you (in laws should be able to tell the best areas). Will be the same "deer hunt'n" just shorter trees

Thanks guys and yes we can feed but we cant hunt over the feeder must be 100 yards from stand and out of sight .

Thanks guys and yes we can feed but we cant hunt over the feeder must be 100 yards from stand and out of sight . Our deer rut in the first of January what time do the deer around Colman get started? The you will be OK with the feeding part. I believe the rut is on now and may be partially over?, There are a couple Coleman threads if you go back a few pages iirc.

No all I was told was it was near the town of Colman but I am sure that's a lot of area in Texas.

Somebody can probably verify this, but make sure you check into Texas hunter safety. I'm unsure if out of state hunters need it (or have to purchase the deferment) but the guy working the counter at Walmart may not know. I'd get those ducks in a row. Texas parks and wildlife takes those things seriously.

I have been shooting a lot this summer I have my 308 dialed in are long shots normal im good to 300 but it is thick here we don't get a lot of shots past 100
