Weatherly mark V or a Blazer R8?
Both have high grade wood, both come in wby calibers, both same price. can switch barrels/calibers with the R8
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

What's a Blazer? But for real, if they are the same price the Blaser is the better deal.
Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

Never been a fan of Blasers. Don't really have any experience with them but just don't like the way they look. Plus I think they are kind of the Yetis of the rifle world-many have them just because they say "I'm high dollar cool." YMMV

I would take the blaser as they have a better reputation for accuracy.

Not common at least in Texas I agree they are not the sharpest looking guns at first but they will grow on you. Personally, I do favor the weatherby look over the blaser

Weatherby rifles are nice but are built for speed over accuracy. Weatherby rifles are guaranteed to be sub moa. blazers are not. Also Blazers are not very well known for shooting sub moa. I have shot a lot of them and usually the best you get is about 1.25".The only advantage a Blazer has ove any rifle is the interchangeable barrels system and you can buy a new complete rifle for the price of the barrels for a Blazer. And yes have and do own both brands of these guns. I also have not seen a R8 for the same price as a Mark V. I have to ask dee have you owned a new generation Weatherby or are you making a statement based on opinion only?

To order a lefty from the custom shop for weatherby is gonna run about $4200
I should have bought a mark V back in 2006 when I had the chance for $1700

My bil has a new accumark stainless fluted 257 that is just over moa but also won't feed out of the magazine and is about to head to weatherby to get checked out.

Both are beautiful guns..go with the one you value most which sounds like the Weatherby also from some that seem to know the Weatherby is more accurate which would help me close the deal.

I say Merkel RX Helix. Or Sako. I'd pick the Mark V because I've shot one and it is sweet. Although R8 is on of my dream guns, I have no experience with them.

Blaser Is one of the finest most accurate rifles on the planet. I have used Blaser products for the better part of 15 years, they are accurate ,dependable, and versatile. They are expensive, and their scope mounts horrendously expensive. All in all I think that Weatherby is not even in the same class as Blaser. If you have any questions on Blaser productline, feel free to PM me. I have owned and own quite a few Blaser Products Here is my R8... A great modular accurate rifle!! Ed

Funny I have owned over 15 barrels for an R93,and LRS and 6 barrels for myR8, I have also owned a D99 drilling, BBF 97 combo gun, and S2 double rifle, and all but one R93 barrel shot MOA and you know what...they replaced it. I guess I've just been lucky. I will agree with you on the cost of the barrels they are expensive at a little over $1000 apiece, but they are accurate.

Another non owner of a sub moa Weatherby. Yes I am a Weatherby fan for many reasons. Anyone that has purchased a Sub Moa Weatherby gun that doesn't shoot sub moa and doesn't send it back since it is zero cost to do so the first time, well that's pretty dumb. They will make it right or replace it for free. Trust me Blaser is a wonderful gun but if you bug one and it shoots 1.5" and send it back they will charge you to shoot it and send it back saying it shoots in spec. Actually that is the exact deal you get with every gun you can buy except a Weatherby and a Tikka.

+1 IMHO, Weatherby mark 5's are way way over rated and yes i've owned several mark V's over the years! I have no experience with the blaser, but would get something made just what i wanted.

If you are looking to throw down 1,3,5K for a high rifle, for my money Im having it built with the finest wood I can afford the action of my choice and the exact barrel contour and twist rate I want. I've got a safe full of off the self sub moa rifles and I have a few custom built as well, its what i expect for every gun i own or i dont keep it. If i were going store bought I'd actually go Colt/ Sauer over the Blaser and the Weatherby wouldn't even be in the conversation.

My reasoning for buying either of these rifles is solely because I want a real pretty gun. One option I did consider was a browning A-Bolt white gold medallion but I already have my standard calibers covered and I would use a .257wby way more than a .30 caliber magnum.
Accuracy is important but if it shot 1.5" groups that would be ok.
If anyone has any other options for a pretty wood stocked left handed rifle I'm all ears
