Best hunt of my life! My son and I went to my lease this weekend and I'll remember this hunt till the day they lay my in the ground! We sat fri night and Saturday morning and both sits we very slow. Saw only one deer in both sits. I knew I had this buck on TC that I was trying to get my son a chance at, He's a 4 1/2 year old 8. He had been on about 2-3 different TC on our lease and another guy had mentioned that someone needs to take him. Saturday me and my son get to the blind a little late and had 4-5 does feeding. I went out around noon and corned the road trying to get my son a closer shot than My feeder (115yrd). The does walked off when we got there, plus a truck drove by and spooked them. I wasn't sure if anything would come back. We sat there for about 40-45min and my son says "buck buck buck" it was our deer we were after. I instantly got buck fever for my son haha. The buck came in around 45 yards got a bite to eat and then started walking towards the feeder. He finally stops and starts eating and at 105 yards my son put the crosshairs right behind the shoulder and squeezed and the rest is history. The buck ran about 30 yards and crashed into a tree. My son is 7 years old and used a Remington .243 (100 grain). This is his first deer ever and he may not shoot one this big for a while. Not a bad cull buck for a low fence ranch. One of the best father/son moments ever! He's a good shot and we practice. I had confidence in him the entire time. Practice pays off!

Dang, someone that has hunted for years would be proud of that one. He definitely started off with a GOOD one. Congratulations to him on a nice buck and to dad for getting him out there.

That is a pure trophy deer. I don't see it as a cull, if it is , I'd be proud to shoot a 'cull' every year.

I just meant it was my cull buck since he is a 8. On our lease a 9 or up is considered a trophy and a cull is 8 and under. We just got dang lucky to get this hoss. He's a throphy for sure. My son is still on cloud 9 (as he should be)
