After seeing some of the scores posted this year I think alot of you would benifit from downloading any one of the many good scoring aps for smart phone. I use one called Trophy Score. I think theres alot of mis-scored deer. Some low but some HIGH. Lets see some guess for this one.. Hint...17 3/4 inside

I came up with 130.75...
Width 17.75 Main beams 44" Mass 16.25+12.75=29 Tines 23+17=40
I agree. There are alot of deer posted and texted to me that I cannot see the score they posted or are saying. Pictures are deceiving and can easily fool someone. Many people think they know how to score but have never seen it done by a professional or were just taught wrong. We have seen some recent threads showing how pictures can be deceiving and some threads showing that some people are trying to learn.
Some of the more common mistakes are measuring tines from the middle of the main beam, taking the mass from the greatest measurement or middle instead of the lessor measurement, not giving 8 pointers the last mass measurement, adding the number of points to the score, etc.

Ive had 2 people tell me lately that you are supposed to measure the point thats basicly the end of the main beam from wherever the last tine is and count it as a tine measurement. That would really inflate scores...

I don't have him near 130. Taking into account the body size of the deer in that area, I can't get him past 120.

Pics can be very deceiving, for sure. But y'all are correct, scores are posted up that are not correct, and I believe most of the time it is just honest mistakes. But should be easy to remedy, by a little education. Also scoring by a pic, is an educated guess at best, but IMO it helps us all. I'm right at 125 on that deer.

Yal are all pretty close. I taped him at 122 3/8. All of my buddies (who always seem to have rediculous scores for their deer) couldnt belueve he wasnt in the 140s. Heres his measurements that I put in the app.

I would have guessed around 125-127 from those pics which are hard to judge tine length on from the front. A lot of how the buck is scored will also play into the final score. The G2 and G3 on the left side appear to start of the mainbeam and that will make them longer on some score sheets and some will not measure them from the mainbeam. Also how the mainbeams are measured by someone can change the score a lot.

Kyle- i agree. But from what ive heard and some of the scores Ive seen people dont know how to score. The ap is pretty fool proof. If they measure off a half inch here or there its not gunna make the scores crazy, but ive seen some bucks posted this year that had WAY inflated scores. Like they added the outside spread or an extra tine measurement.
That ap is called Trophy Score. I think it costs a buck

That ap is called Trophy Score. I think it costs a buck I decided to try Trophy Score for spreads and scores on bucks I have pics of that were killed. It was low on score and spread on everyone I plugged in. I have only used in 6-7 bucks though so with practice it could be more accurate. The problem I have with it though is that Texas is a large state with different size deer from all over the state. You can't use an ear or across the eye measurement for the whole state. The buck I just killed was 14 2/8" inside and the best I could get with this app was 12.80" inside Same on the buck my Dad killed 2 yrs ago that was 13 6/8" inside best it got was 12.60". It was short on beams also on both bucks.

In a different area where bucks north of 200lb are killed, a buck of this caliber and age would be 130+ or better.

We must be talking about a different app. On mine you still have to measure the deer. Yours sounds like one where you take a pic and it tries to guess

that's why I don't even bother scoring a deer unless he breaks 325"
