I can understand then where he is coming from. A trophy to some may not be a trophy to others!
Everyone who posts a picture of their deer better have a thick skin as you will always have those who are going to criticise.

I can kind of agree but barely. I just too shot my first bow kill last weekend. Not only first bow kill but first real buck besides spikes and junk deer. As anxious as I was to kill a deer with my bow I was not going to go against ETHICS and shoot a deer that had no business being shot. I saw many bucks that size but wanted a deer that actually could be justifyably harvested. I dont belive that just because its your first you are excused from hunting ethics. Yes not all have the opportunity to shoot big 180 class or even 140 class deer but make sure it at least some what mature. Thats like saying ive never driven a car before so when I get the opportunity im not going to follow the laws and when I get caught ill say sorry judge first timer. Dont give this guy sympathy. Hes a killer he doesnt respect wildlife. Im not perfect nor am I preaching that my views are perfect but if you read his face book he brags about being some all world hunter. Hes a wildlife killer. Rant over besides that I do appreciate his service to the country. Just my opinion

I know that they go MLD on those miliatry bases at times depending on what their game surveys indicate, and they do use an eight points or better rule which isn't the best method of management as when someone shoots a young deer.
It will be interesting to hear what happened!
Ive read through the Ft Hood regs and there is no MLD mentioned in it. They follow the state guidelines. Not sure about other military bases.

SapperTitan, Do you know for a fact it was taken illegally? If not, why would you perpetuate a smear thread on this guy?

Still trying to find out all the facts but the guy on post that works at sportsmans said he seen that deer at the check station the morning after posted the pic and apparently on the Central Texas bowhunter page he told someone he killed it on Ft Hood. After they called him out on it he deleted everything so no way to see the post or his comments now. If it was killed on Hood as he stated then it is absolutely illegal. Not sure why he would lie about killing it on hood.

Bottom line, MLD or not, Bell county is an AR county. That deer should not have been taken.

Life is too short, as is. Don't chance it.
