It's been quite a while since I've cooked up cottontail, and figured I'd give it a try again fairly soon. You got any winning recipes/dishes to share?

pretty simple here ... dip in a milk bath, roll thru flour/black pepper/salt, low-medium temp shallow grease, cover for 10-15 minutes, remove cover & flip to other side, replace cover, another 10-15 minutes remove cover and cook till medium brown. about the only way my mom ever fixed em.

Thats pretty much how we do it too. I have taken them and put them in a crock pot and added cream of mushroom soup, mushrooms, and garlic powder. Cook it on low until the meat starts to fall off the bone and serve over rice it's pretty good. Sometimes you have to add a cup of water so the soup dosent burn in the crok pot. I have a uncle and he runs beagles so he always has a bunch of rabbits. I have seen him marinade them in italian dressing for 12 to 24 hrs and then grill them. This tase pretty good too.
I want it to party in my mouth.

Man! I haven't had rabbit in a long time. I love rabbit. If you decide to fry em, make sure to parboil the big old ones in salted water for awhile before you fry. If you don't, they can be a little tough. The young ones can be fried up just like chicken. Enjoy!

Swamp rabbits are good for cooking over long periods of time. All the cotton tails that we kill usually get fried with biscuits and grease gravy

Every cottontail I have ever eaten either needed to be stewed or par boiled to be fit to eat. I have tried to bbq or fry several cotton tails with no other prep like par boiling etc and they are tuff dry stringy sob's.
It's hell eatin em live

I chicken fry them the same as above but I marinate in buttermilk for 24 hours prior and it goes straight to the cajun seasoned flour and then to the bacon grease. My grandma used to boil the ones I would bring her and make rabbit and dumplins. It was excellent. Rabbit stew is good too.

Try Brunswick Stew, it got started in North Carolina or Georgia and there are several recipe variations but it is a good way to cook rabbits and squirrels. The recipe was designed for squirrels and rabbits, chicken is "Washed Out".

First thing I do with a cottontail is wait until it gets nice and cold... cold... before I shoot them. I've started to skin/clean too many that started to move around once I got into the gut cavity due to worms. Nasty. I'll wait until the sick ones die off in the cold and I'll (hopefully) harvest healthy ones.

Skin cut into quarters season like steak throw on the grill. Simple. Rabbit is my favorite wild game. Just never had a good place to go kill them. I always leave the jack rabbits alone. To tough for me.
