Hey guys. I'm new to the forum. Has anybody made any remote water troughs. Our lease does not have much water around and am looking to add some water near my feeders. Any pictures or recommendations would be appreciated.

If you can figure out the search function on here you can find several old threads to help with what you are wanting to do.

I bought a Little Giant automatic goat waterer at Tractor Supply, a hose and a 35 gallon tank to which I attached a spigot. Two plastic saw horses I bought at Home Despot, that hold 1000 lbs each (maybe $18 each). Put it out on my place in Adamsville. Works like a charm. I placed rocks around the trough. There is a float valve in the waterer that regulates the inflow. I read mixed reviews about this Little Giant waterer, but decided to give it a try anyway. It has been running like a charm since May. No noticeable leaks, which is what the biggest complaints were about. I do have to truck water out there to refill, but, hey, it's a cheap way to supply water.

Hey Tech, I have a boatload of empty 200 pound mineral tubs for cattle. Heavy plastic and would hold about 35 or 40 gallons of water. They also make good portable gardens for the patio. Free! Come get you fifty or so. 78949

I like this style. Rain water collection system. I get the float valve water bucket from tractor supply If you can weld a little, make one like the pic. I have one made out of wood frame. The one in the pic has a ~300 gal tank. My current one has a 500 gallon tank with a 8' x 8' water collection roof. It will give me about 35-40 gallons of water for every inch of rain. I like to keep the watering trough in a shaded area to minimize evaporation I have mine remote so did not want to have to keep hauling water to it. I like this automatic float valve watering bucket better than the pan. strapped it to a tree in the shade and fill it 3/4 full with rock.
