So I need to find a local shooting club which will accept a donation of 800 rounds of Remington .223 ammo. Its a long story, but basically Cabelas made a mistake and didnt cancel an order made during the panic and then shipped me the ammo about 16 months after the order was made. Ive since resupplied and really dont want the ammo anymore, but Cabelas wont take the return even though they admit it was their fault. We've made an arrangement wherein I can donate it to a club of my choice so long as I can get a letter on club letterhead that says I made the donation, and Cabelas can follow up to verify. I know its awesomely ridiculous, and if I never step foot in Cabelas it will be too soon.
Anyway... anyone know a local club that may accept the donation? Appreciate it guys...

The Gwood88 North Houston Shooting club. 1 member strong! What about West Houston Shooting Club? Might try them. http://www.whidpa.com/Is it steel or brass cased? I know they don't allow bimetal bullets on their steel targets.

I hear you guys! I just dont want to end up with no ammo and no refund.
Its Remington brass-cased FMJ still in the factory sealed box.
I'll give West Houston a call. Been wanting to give their USPA or 3-Gun matches a try...

I've actually never been there. I have been wanting to try 3 gun though just to see what its like and try a different type of shooting. It seems like a pretty cool club though!

Try a local BSA venturing crew. I know the crew my son is in would love that donation, but we are in the Dallas area.

Still looking if anyone has any suggestions. Have an email out to West Houston shooting Club and was turned down by my club, Bayou Rifles. Man this is a pain in my rear.

Bumping this up again, since I've had no luck donating this ammo. Anyone know if a 3gun competition near houston? Maybe they'd like it as a prize or something? Thanks for any suggestions...

Does 4H shoot 223? Might ask any of the schools to see if they use it. Also the universities have shooting clubs....could probably use it.

Just a thought, but have you considered selling the ammo and then donating the proceeds to a local church? Might be easier and end up making a greater positive impact. Again, just a thought.
I was wrong...on anything technical. Fitz............. is right, ya know............

Try PSC. Here's a link to the directors. Just click on a name for their e-mail address, then copy it to an e-mail, unless you use outlook. Try Charles Cotton (He's a current NRA BOD, also), Jim Pierce and a couple more. You should get a response pretty quick. http://www.psc-range.com/index.php/club-info/psc-directors/75-psc-directors
