Has anyone ever used iron sights with offset rails for short range? Does it work well?

Look at a Dueck Defense RTS set.
They were developed for competition shoting and work well.
They are expensive but there are lots of knockoffs out there for around 50.00 a set.

When I still stalked around pig hunting, I had a 6x scope on top and a set of RTSs on the right side.
Transition is very fast and natural after you flip it a few times.
They worked just like a standard iron sight and zeroed and held it pretty well.
Definitely good enough for what they are intended for.
Only used them once on a hunt but was glad they were on there for a closeup and personal visit with a pig.

Thanks for the info. I recently purchased a ruger sr762 that came with iron sights. I took those off so I could mount my scope and now they are just sitting in the case. Your picture looks like what I had in mind. Seems like that would work for close range stuff. I'll have to give it a try.

I bought the GDT knockoff ones for $19 shipped on Amazon and they have been fine. Mounted to the rail fine and seem to hold zero on my 6.8 SPC AR.

Get a 1-4,6, or 8x scope with a throw lever. Offsets went the way of the dodo for multigun.

I've looked at some many times. But the nice, name brand ones sure ain't cheap. Never heard anything bad, except for some of those cheap gunshow knock offs they sell.

+1. I have that same exact set and they are wonderful. Full A2 type rear sights, easy to use and accurate.
