My 13 yr old hunting buddy has this really bad. Anyone have any advise on how to handle the situation? Just trying to make the hard decision on when to put him down.

I had never heard of it till now, just did a little reading & sounds like a tough deal if he has it bad like you say. I feel for you, no one but you can tell you when it's the right time to put the dog down you will know when the time has come. I have a half Brittany, half GSP that is over 14 now & I know it's getting close.

Mother in laws lab has it and see it at work quite often (im a vet tech). I would make a list of all the stuff he loves to do and when he cant do half of them anymore then I would consider euth, or if he is clearly uncomfortable all the time as there is no way to fix laryngeal paralysis. I know the call is hard to make but sometimes we have to do whats best for our buddy even if it hurts our hearts.

My old lab had it and it was misdiagnosed until it was too late. We lost her June of last year. I was told there is a surgery for it but for a dog that age it might not be worth the expense. I did some reading on it after the fact and it seemed like the best thing was to keep the dog cool and don't over work it.
