Any caliber will work....as long as it is a .270 agreed. the .270 was a gift from God +1
There are those who read of what others have done, then there are those like me who do what others read about.

I think the rifle choose is the easy one the real debate will be the scope you put on her.

I was at bass pro this weekend and I think I'm going to pick the .270 or 30-06 Winnchester and one of the main reasons was the amount of ammo that is out there for those 2. I'm now looking for the scope that fits my needs. I took a fellow deer camp buddy with me and he has me leaning toward the 30-06 but no choice made yet.
Thanks for all y'alls comments. Y'all have made it tough
GOD has all the answers to your questions. It's your choice to follow his path or create your own.

Lots of rifles and calibers will work. I would start out by finding one that is the most affordable and go from there.

I'm very happy with the Savage 11/1100 in .308 caliber. It has killed pigs and deer handily. My dad had a Weatherby 30-06 that my brother-in-law built for him that was much nicer, but much more expensive. The Weatherby had an action that was like butter. It was so smooth that I was able to use it to put three rounds into a running doe's chest at about 75 yards. Seemed almost like a semi-auto. It went back to my brother-in-law when my dad passed away.

My South Texas rifle is a M70, Featherweight .30-.06, great looking gun and gets the job done well.

If you are still looking, try Budsguns.com. They have a good selection of all types of firearms. I just bought a new Weatherby VG2 from them for $486. It took about 1 1/2 weeks to get it. They will send it to a gun store that you choose. It will cost around $20 for a transfer from the store. Stay with .243, .270, 30-06 etc. to make ammo easier to find.

No prayer in school....What's next, no thinking in church? It's not just about pie in the sky when you die. It's also about steak on your plate while you wait!

Sounds great. I would go with a Leupold VX I or II and call it good. 3-9x or 3.5-10x.

I learned long ago you can't reason someone out of something they don't reason themselves into.

Check out the sales at Academy right now. I would go with Remington, Savage, Winchester or Tikka. Start with a quality rifle. As far as calibers are concerned, I would stay with .270, 7mm-08, .308 or .30-06. Those are all flat shooting and accurate rounds easily harvesting most any animal in Texas. Good Luck
