rofl

We worked on rifles for Africa took all apart cleaned barrels checked screws, Loaded new ammo and took to range and after all the work and even changed from 120's to 140's in KC's 7/08.

My .300

Kacee 7/08 with couple adjustments

And 9.3x62

I wouldn't bed em either just tighten those screws laugh

But the real question is, how would they have shot if they weren't bedded. Just to stir the pot a little on a nice Sunday morning.

Them TSXs are pretty good boolits. The 5 shot group for the 7mm-08 is with two different OALs. Oh and your .300 is way too heavy. Just saying.

I want pics of dead animals with the rifles and fired brass. I still can't believe you are going and I'm not. Hoser.

Hey BMD,

I invited Karnis when I went... He said the same thing, should have asked Peggy first!

Have a good time, and keep the camera out at all times!

Here's a handy tip I got from an old African veteran: Take 3 cameras. One for you, one for Kacee, and a spare point-and-shoot for your PH. Just ask the PH to take all kinds of random photos of the two of you. These candid shots will be your favorites because both dad and daughter will be in them. In these days of digital photography and SD cards, you can't take too many photos!

I took a chit load of pictures....still not enough.

My trip next year is going to have cameras clicking all the time.

Not too bad guess riding around in case has cut down on the red dirt. Very little copper in either barrel. Just ready for the trip

How does that 9.3x62 feel compared to the 300 Win Mag?

Wiley Coyote sure likes that BIG Bore rifle.

Having shot both calibers enough to be able to comment, the last 300WMg I had was a early 90's SS/syn Classic that scoped & loaded IE All UP weighed about 9 1/2lbs with its 24" Magnum profile barrel, in a factory tupperware stock and a decelarator pad. Running umm 1-2 grains under max max in Sierra 180 SP's at 3000+ fps MV's you definitely knew you had pulled the trigger. Strangely it wieghed about the same as a Tikka 695 DLX 30/06 & Leo VX? 3x9x50 a buddy has but the barrel on the WMg pushed the balance point forward a couple inchs's ...the 22" barreled Tikka might have 3-4oz's lighter at most...mebbe.

The Winnie was not uncomfortable to shoot off the bench for 25-30 rounds wearing a Past Pad...but more than that bacame a proble...just not 270WCF pleasant and I began to strugle after about 30 rnds or so of WMg to NOT flinch, while shooting seated & off the bench...and certainly better than the M70 Sporter Classic BOSS 338 and thin Red pad I traded at the beginning of the deal and came home with the Winnie 2 trades later. FWIW in those days I had not had the surgery to remove the 22+oz softball sized non malignant tumor out from under & behind my right ear, and the Winnie was the 1st gun I shot in those days that would make that otherwise floating tumor "vibrate" and put a electric shock type tingle in all of my right upper quadrant nerve trunks, and all the way into my right hand from my neck ... but the Winnie would not "hurt" me like the 1st Gen 8lb all up 300Wby FiberMark had with the barreled action flopping around in the flimsy stock.

The 1st Gen CZ 550 9.3x62 I have was built in 2002 and is a Large 23.6" barreled Rifle, no longer produced with its adjustable Set Trigger, and weighs a little under 8 1/2lb bare nekkid....or a tad better than 9 1/2lbs with a Burris FF II 3x9x40 aboard in steel rings. It has a well designed albeit heavy, thick wood stock with a Decelarator pad, with double Pinned recoil lugs like a Safari Grade gun, but in the American styled high combed stock. IMO It is better balanced than the 300WMg M70 or Browning SS/syn 300WMg I had and a joy to shoot in comparison either off the bench or in the field.

IMO the 9.3's in 270gr'ers @ est'd 2450fps MV's recoil is more like a Big Push than the sharper recoil of my former 300WMg, or more like a heavy 338WMg in 250's - but then I think a properly sized & fitted 338WMg kicks less than a 300WMg anyway ...and the 9.3 loaded like I did is about Equal to a lighter M70/Ruger 77 Sporter max loaded 30'06 in 180's with a good Decelarator pad....and I've been able to shoot the 9.3 comfortably for about 30+ rounds off the bench AFTER the tumor removal & 18 months of mobility rehab, and had initially begun to shoot in a T Shirt & hunt regularly again with a T3 Swede Hunter Grade....The Surprise in Recoil Issues in those days was after I got a handfull of heart "bandaids" and a Lifetime scrip for Plavix 2 years after the Docs released me from Rehab, when my T3 Lite 270 was eating my lunch with a factory pad ...PTL for Prefit Limbsavers and the kind gentleman from around Houston who mailed me his leftover takeoff Limbsaver.

Hope this gives ya'll some insight on the 300WMg X 9.3x62 recoil ??'s
Ron
