Got this in a trade and am wanting to flip it for something else now. It is a 27-2 4" Nickel, and im having trouble nailing down a value.

I looked, the only one on there that is like mine is a one in mint condition in a nice presentation case that is "Investment Grade", they are asking $1,550 for it. I'm pretty sure mine isn't even on the same planet as that one lol.

Mine is a 27-3 4" and started out bright blue. I had it NITEX'ed back in the mid 80's and it still looks like a Stainless "N" frame S&W. I am most proud of this revolver. It and I have been through thick and thin in just a few short years. I have been offered 800 and 1K, refusing both. It will be given to another LEO upon my passing.

That's the range in the current BBGV.

I would safely say 550-600 dollars. If you the original wooden grips for it, add about 50.00 dollars more. It looks well maintained. Do not use Hoppes 9 on it as it will find its way and get under the nickel finish and begin cracking and peeling away. Saw this with one revolver. Use just regular gun oil. To be honest, I would hold on to it a while longer as value is only going to go higher on it. It is a no -lock, pinned barrel, red ramp model. I am just guessing yours was made late 70's or early 80's. You just do not see them like that anymore. My forner brother in law had one like that, but in blue. It was about 95%. We went to the gun show about 4 years ago, and I went off to the restroom and stopped at a couple of tables before I found him. He had traded it off for a Smith Wesson Sigma. He wanted a 9mm. I had told him that to wait for me before he traded or sold it. (The dealer even threw in an extra magazine and box of ammo. BIG WOW). It was too late, He was already filling out the 4473. I gave the dealer a few choice words on better business practices. The other dealers around him gave him crap after they heard me and the one next to him told him he was going to smear his reputation for doing that. The dealer relented and swapped the Sigma for a new Beretta 92FS. No extra mag or ammo though. The Beretta is worth roughly 600, so It was a way better deal than a Sigma for 300.00.

Great solid revolvers and they shoot beautifully. I'd say an easy $650.00, but ditto to what ggarcia said. I'd hang onto it.
