He flew off with my arrow stuck in him still.. This happen to anyone else? This is the first time i have tried to take a turkey with my bow. For reference i am shooting a Fred Bear Motive 6. Set at 60 lbs. With Black out arrows and NAP broad heads. I hit him farther back than i would have liked. Was aiming for the area where the neck goes into the body. I hit him in the middle of the body. The shot was 30 yards which is nothing for this bow. I shot a doe the other day at 48 yards.. Just curios if this ever happens to anyone else. He flopped around then took off with the other 40 plus turkeys that where at my blind. Looked in a 200 yard circle from where they landed and no bird, found feathers and my arrow under the pile of feathers.

I don't bow hunt but I've always heard thAt if they are flopping you need to run out there right away and finish the job. Not as necessary with gun hunting sice we can just shoot again if they get up...just what people have told me.

These birds are really tough and hard to kill. My cousin in Abiline has shot two that I know of that have flown off with his arrow. This year my wife and I were hunting with shot guns. Her with a 20 guage 2 3/4 high brass #4s modified choke and me with a 12 guage 3" #5 turkey loads and a full choke. By the way my wife has killed several turkeys with the 20 guage. We both turned on our second shot to the same turkey. Rolled him. Got out of the blind, rounded the corner and it was gone. Trailed it to the neighbors fence where a bird flew off.
It's the time spent in God's creation with family and friends making memories that counts.

lol X2 With bow, you're supposed to go and break their heads. That's what an avid GA hunter told me.

If you passed through him with that setup, he should be dead before 200 yards. Are you sure you didn't just hit feathers and knock a few off? Or just skin him? I have killed lots of turkeys with my bow and never had them go far. I have had them fly off, but didn't make it very far before they came crashing down.

the arrow struck turkey likely died where the arrow and pile of feathers was found. yotes or bobcat has a meal, doesn't take long for them to reduce it to where the can take off the carcass.
lf the saying "Liar, Liar your pants on fire" were true Mainstream news might be fun to watch
