Well I got to hunt a veteran doe/spike hunt this weekend in Mason TX. It was a blast, though it didn't go as we original thought. I got to hunt with a disabled vet buddy of mine. We where best friends in Iraq and should have stayed that way. Due to a bad situation with his now ex-wife, ( I did not sleep with her as others who heard this story thought) we had a falling out in 2008, he recently moved back to Texas and we spoke a bit on the phone. When I learned of his hunt I invited him along, to catch up. He had never been hunting before and we thought it'd be interesting to try. Well a long winded story slightly shortened, we caught up, told war stories, had a lot of fun and though he didn't get his first deer this weekend, cuz she got up and limped off and we couldn't find her, gonna try again in the morning, I'm positive he will be a life long hunter, I ended up shooting a small spike. Cool thing about the last hunt today, after popping the spike I sat and watched the other deer, saw 10 bucks, ranging from young 4 pointer to a huge old buck, think I counted 11 points and some really interesting others too. Saw one deer with pristine, all white, sparkling even in the sunlight antlers. Kinda strange, never seen it before. Plus got past all the bs and now I am able to bs with an old buddy again. Pretty cool weekend I'd say. Sorry, no pics all our phones where dead.
