I use scott weichel he is in Wylie. He is the machinist that builds Stiller actions and can put together a great rifle. Great with details and on price.

Garland Gilbreath in Stephenville. It's up the road a piece, but he does great work.

x2 for S&S

If I were you though, I'd send it off. There's tons of good builders throughout the country and if you decide you don't like the rifle for some reason then a GAP is much easier to sell than an S&S.

My last one was built by RW Snyder in Iowa. Absolutely top notch.

I can tell you're a tactical rifle guy, because that statement is absolutely true and I agree 100%. But in the benchrest world, S&S is one of the tops in the country and it would be the exact opposite.

One thing that GAP does is a vast majority of their stuff is built on a custom action, which will garner a higher resale than a trued up Remington (S&S does a lot of these for tactical and hunting guys).

I heard a rumor that Speedy moved back to Texas and opened another shop. Have you heard anything about this.

dee...I heard he was back but haven't heard anything about a shop. Although I assumed it would just be a matter of time if he was back to stay and put some roots in place. Even when he was in CO he was doing some guns between teaching. He has quite the reputation in the accuracy world so if he is back at some point I probably need to have him chamber me one up to see what he does differently. I know they all have their own tricks they do to make them more accurate.

I don't shoot paper and not sure if he would shoot the clay matches I shoot but if I hear it confirmed I'll let you know. I know one of Stick's machinists I'll ask him next time I see him.

Another vote for Gene Williams in Princeton. He's currently working on a rifle for me and I've been impressed with him so far.

Mike Lau built my first Surgeon rifle (switch barrel) in 260 Rem and 308 Win. It was a less than 1/4 MOA gun. At it's top, it was shooting 1 3/8" groups at 600 yards.

Jerry Stiller and crew have built some good shooters, and make a good action.

Steve Lamphear, in Princeton is no longer here. He moved out to CO. He did make a good rifle, though!
Doc's in Carrollton, hummm, no comment.

MIke Bryant in Wheeler build my 300 Win Mag on my Model 70 action. It shoots the 208 Amax's at 2900 fps in the .3's. I'm very happy with it.
