Just curious if anyone has any opinions good/bad on this cartridge and rifle. Can the 17hmr's also be shot through this rifle or is this a specialty ammo?

The 17 wsm is originated from a .27 caliber nail gun blank. You can't shoot the 17 hmr out of it. My dad has one in a savage and it is a tack driver. A few nights ago he shot a ringtail and 175 yards with it. He loves it. It shoots a 20 grain bullet at 3000fps and 399 ft lbs of energy.

Know of 3 all say they don't group so I won't get one

Tried one at the gun store and it was tight, I had to pass even though I really want one. I will wait for a better action.

Why not get the hornet?

My 17 wsm kills better than my hornet. The action loosens up after 250 rounds. I'd highly recommend it for a fur hunter.
