Just returned from four days at the ranch. Deer movement was virtually non-existent while we were there. I knew that meant the rut was about to kick off in earnest as the old boys lay up resting because they know what lies ahead. And most of the girls were hiding for the same reason. Lots of nubbin' bucks by themselves, another sure sign. Coming up on the full moon and cooler temps got them going yesterday morning. Driving out of our place through the Callaghan Ranch at about 7am and there were bucks checking does all over the place. Some chasing, some tending, others travelling nose to the ground. Wish I could have stayed as this next week should be absolutely crazy!

I am going there this weekend, can't wait!

That's good to hear! Killed a nice one out there two weeks ago and didn't see all that much chasing. I will be hunting on the Callaghan next year. Hunted as a guest for three years now and finally got on. I'm pumped up!
