Awesome buck, I'm sure you were quite surprised when you walked up on that monster!

Congratulations and thanks for sharing your story!

At first glance all I saw was a big bottom and a side, was face away from me and in and area with grass about waist high. Was not till I yelled out that the head popped up and I knew it was an large buck. Just did not realize how large till it was on the ground...

I don't know you but I'm so happy for you. That is the best Lamar county buck I've ever seen. Just been looking at these pics for the last 30 minutes in shock.

I bet you are thinking of the Sulphur river. Sabine is further south.

Barnez -

You are correct Sulphur River area, and thanks for the kind words from all of you...

looking for an Boone & Crockett scorer, taxidermist says 202 1/4 on score...
for age he said it was tought to say, front teeth gone but back teeth good. Also stated skull was thin for what he thought would be an older deer.

East texas has absolutely shocked the whitetail hunting world this year. There have been numerous, and I mean NUMEROUS monster bucks shot on low fence properties this year. Somebody is doing something right because you DID NOT see this many of these kind of deer 10 years ago.

That is a good question, certainly the largest Lamar county buck I've seen.
