Does anyone know of any reputable German Wirehair or Deutsch Drahtaar breeders in Texas?

I would get a Deutsch Drahthaar and not a German Wirehair.
There are several good breeders here in Texas. Off the top of my head Kevin Sherrodd, Sean Hicks, and Kraig Stemme.
Decide what traits you want in your dog and find a breeder that has the best pups for you. I wouldn't limit your search to just Texas.
Join VDD-GNA AND come out and watch some breed tests. That is the best way to see what a bunch of different dogs can do.
Let me know if I can help. I know a bunch of DD breeders.
What game do you want to hunt with the DD?

Forrest, where are you located?
I go to Kansas every year. You guys should join us. It is public land with a lot of work, but it is fun.
Sorry for the hijack, but I like to invite everyone with me to Kansas.

I really like my D D, he never runs down but is very hard headed. If you want one for inside also I'd suggest a female, less pee problems and a little less hard headed but still not wimpy.

I have never had a problem with my rescue male peeing in the house and I got him straight from a kennel that he lived in 24 hours a day for 7 years. He potty trained instantly.

Sorry for the hijack, but I like to invite everyone with me to Kansas. One of these days I am going to make one of y'alls hunts. Somehow I always have other plans already before I find out about them. BTW, I added the link to the area DD chapter to the sticky top of the forum. If you let me know of any Texas area testing dates next year when they are scheduled, I will add it to the event list in that sticky thread for y'all.

My DD & Gordon males would not quit marking in the house so they live outside. My buddy has had female DD's for years and they seem to be less hardheaded and a little easier to handle.

as far as hardheaded DD goes, IMO it is their blood line. I have had males that were easy to brake and males that were very head strong. and females same way . this bitch I have now is very hard headed. but has as much game drive as any dog I have ever saw. great cold nose. layed an artifical blood track, 5 days old hot summer time. my buddys blood hound couldn't do the track but flo did. have to brag on my babby once in a while. Hey guys, first time poster, long time lurker. I would highly recommend going to the tests, seeing the test and meeting the people. Everyone that I've met within the DD group is top notch. I am on my first DD, tested VJP & HZP this year. Ready for another. These dogs are amazing.

There is time, and you must take it, to lay your hand on your dog's head as you walk past him lying on the floor or on his settle, time to talk with him, to remember with him, time to please him, time you can't buy back once he's gone" GBE
