Family has a small piece of land East of Three Rivers on the Bee County/Live Oak County line. Grew up visiting there my first 30 years but never thought of setting up a corn feeder and a deer stand. Wondering how the deer hunting is in that part of South Texas. All low fence all around. Any advice?

Thanks for that advice! Consider myself a moral and ethical person so didnt plan on doing that.

Any idea about deer numbers? Lots of deer but mostly small native bucks around that area? OR few deer but good quality when you see one?

Best way to determine the numbers, put up corn and camera. This will let you know all you want.

I know. Cant get down there till atleast Sunday at the earliest so just trying to see if anyone is already in the area or not.

Corn and camera will be done soon though and hopefully I get lucky. Have a hidden gem for the last 30 years and not even know it.

Without knowing the place or seeing whats around it I can give you an honest answer. What I will say is bring your feeder, camera, corn and rifle. They're good deer out and around that area. If this place is way out in the sticks, with farm roads and other thickets around it , its gonna have a good chance of having some good deer. Spread plenty of corn, hide out and keep your eyes peeled.

Depends on the exact area but may not have a lot of deer and those there will be average in size. I grew up in Northern Bee County so I know the area well.

I grew up in Pettus in the 80s and early 90s. Small world. This is my grandparents place out west of Mineral just south of FM623.

I grew up there from the 50's till the 80's. Moved away in the 80's till last year and moved back to Western Goliad County. Never used to be that many deer around Mineral. Times have changed with the WMA Coop in that area. Some decent bucks in pockets. Seen a double drop wide 5x5 that was hit by a pickup about 7 miles west of Mineral on 623 back about 10 yrs ago now. Well lets say the buck was probably run over since there was no skid marks and he was hit close to the fence in the ditch grin

Some good deer in the area. I personally shot a 153" buck on the Goliad/Bee Cty border (property I hunted was split by Blanconia Creek). Saw 2 others that would have scored in the 170's but couldn't get a shot at either one. One of them was killed the same year by the rancher across the creek (Bee Cty). Overall, we saw mostly 1 1/2 to maybe 3 1/2 yr old deer, once in a while we would see one of these bigger ones. But, we didn't even have feeders or game cams so there might have been better bucks around when we weren't, lol. Also, I only had the opportunity to hunt there for 1 full week each season (a friends property) as he didn't want to make multiple trips from DFW to there. I liked it best when we hunted beginning the weekend after Thanksgiving thru the 1st week of Dec. Seemed like that;s when the rut was starting. Over the years, my friend wanted to hunt Opening week. I hated it because it was almost always hot and slow deer movement, but, it was a free hunting trip so I dealt with it.
