My self and two buddies will be in the Bracketville area later this week with intentions of killing many four legged animals, and maybe a bird or two. On the serious, how's it looking? Rut? Post rut?

Thanks guys, be safe. elmer aim

I was there Sun-Wed before Thanksgiving. After the weather cleared up we started seeing alot more deer. The bucks I saw didn't seem too interested yet.

Hunted in Hondo from Thurs thur Sunday and saw one small buck chasing a doe so the rut is happening but as far as deer movement it was very slow. Something strange is going on this yr been hunting there for 13 yrs and we would always see lots of deer every hunt but not this yr. I still have corn in the cinderos that I feed two weeks prior. Someone on the ranch suggested we might have a mountain lion but I haven't seen any signs of one but who knows.

Just got home from Brackettville. I would say pre rut. Small young bucks showing interest. Typical hunt had 10-12 does and the mature bucks would eat right beside them showing no interest. In fourteen years there, I would say one week away from really heating up.

I would say Jim1961 is spot on

I was hunting at my dads place near Bracketville and it should be heating up next week. We saw several small bucks showing interest but nothing more than that

Logs on his place show a lot of big bucks killed from the 10th-15th of December.

Work changed my plans to be there this weekend. I hope to be there by midweek. Good luck and keep us updated on that rut activity.

I made it back with nothing. There was much promise, but nothing. We were sitting next to another piece of fenced property and saw many shooters on that side.

The wind was extremely high and made the conditions horrible. as we were leaving Sunday morning it looked as if the wind was dying and saw many dear from the road. It didn't appear as if the rut has kicked in yet. Some one made mention about another week or so for the rut. It looks like that might be the case. No complaints here though I'll be back next year. Maybe later in December.
